Andrew Gordon died last night. I suspect most of you knew he was teminally ill. He was diagnosed with cancer of the duodenum in March last year. He knew he was on borrowed time for most of this year.

To say that he enjoyed his last 18 months is an understatement, he certainly went out with a bang. He will be sadly missed in the motorsport community for his charm, modesty and driving skills.

I've enclosed a photo of how Andrew would like to be remembered.

Andrew will be sorely missed. He was the epitome of what it is to be a gentleman, and boy could he drive! Modesty and charm are two excellent ways to describe him. Even when he was going through unimaginable difficulties, he would always wish me well with my studies, and offer motivating/encouraging thoughts. I feel privileged to have known him, and I'll never forget him, nor the example he set. Vale Andrew.

Very sad news :( .....I didn't know him personally but from email conversations I had with him he seemed a true gentleman as others have said.

I have a few pictures of him when picking up the F430, might post them later if others think its appropriate.

    RIP Andrew

EDIT: what a fitting person to dedicate my 1500th post too. :)

    RIP

I loved his detailed and informative review of his 430 on the circuit a couple months back.

A true gentleman who shared the motorsport addiction. My only regret was not meeting Andrew earlier in life. He will be sorely missed.......

Words probably can't give justice to what many of us are feeling right now. Although we've known this day was coming for quite some time, it doesn't make it any easier.

thanks Carl, I was wondering earlier today how we should remember Andrew, because he was a lovely, genuine, unpretensious person who you felt like you have known all your life after meeting him for the first time.

Extremely modest and quick to praise people, making all around him feel good and welcomed.

A true gentleman in the olde world meaning of the phrase and a delight to be near, he could mix with any type of person and not be out of place.

He loved his motorsport as PP and 360C will attest to and his most loved marques were Ferrari and BMW.

A very sad day for the people who knew him but glad his family and he himself did not suffer for a prelonged period.

There is a hole in my life ............... goodbye Andrew

A coomon theme in every comment appears to be "true gentleman". FWIW I will do my damndest to try and change and be a little more like Andrew in this regard. He was someone that you could not help but admire.

Goodbye Andrew, and thanks. Only a priviledged few got to know Andrew really well, and I'm sorry to say I didn't know him better than I did.

But I did know him well enough to discuss his illness with him, as my sister suffered the same. His words and warmth when discussing our experiences with this dreadful disease were inspirational.

    God bless you Andrew.

There are Ferrari's in heaven, and they've all got double the horsepower and triple the braking capacity than any here, and track days are free, and tyres last forever and get faster with use.

My thoughts are with his friends and family.

Only met him once, briefly, but he was kind enough to stop and allow me take take many pictures of his 430. I can fully understand why everyone refers to him as a gentleman. Obviously the world is worse off for his passing.

I see his car is already up for sale. I hope it finds a fitting home. I only wish they would change the 360 to 430 in the ad.
