Andy has sold his shop to a young guy named Ramiro (I don’t have his last name handy). Andy is continuing to do engine rebuilds, but at a more leisurely pace. I had my 550 there for a few months. Any questions about the service experience, please DM me. Bill

@bill59 ........In search of records for my '88 Mondial, I stopped by the shop yesterday and introduced myself to Ramiro who entertained my visit. He was quite proud to show me different jobs he was working on including a 360 F1 gated conversion he was finishing up. He told me that Andy is pretty much gone and had issues with a couple - three prior mechanics he had brought on board. I wished this young man well with his new business!

That’s good to hear. We need more great Ferrari mechanics—-I hope he becomes one. I know Andy has had a number of health problems. May be he’s removed himself further from the business. Andy always went out of his way to talk to me. Including the last year to find my 550. I wish him all the best.

I've not met Andy but I hope everything goes successful for Ramiro. For me, my go-to for everything Ferrari (and care for my XKR) is with Steve and Klarissa at EMC.

I have been using Andy, and the last trip Ramiro. Andy is a great guy and Ramiro appears to be the same. I have been totally pleased with their work and their pricing!

There is another great Ferrari tech that has basically stopped as well. But we are left with two really great shops IDR and EMC. Both Michael and Steve are great. It was actually a tough choice between the two when we recently had to select a new shop (see first sentence).

Our 550 went to IDR as we are racers and Michael and his team are as well. They are also engineers and the vibe feels really good to me.

They just did some pre-Monterey Drive (Carweek) work for us, and the pricing, communication and quality were outstanding.

We are lucky to have great choices in AZ!

Here is IDR: Ferrari Performance & Replica Specialists | IDR

I very much appreciated Michael's (and his brother's) time and expertise. Having owned a performance / racing / maintenance shop that serviced Ferrari's in a past life, I have a high standard! he exceeded all of my expectations.

Although we have not used EMC, Steve has been great to chat with (he is a 1 minute walk from my office) and was very gracious to show me around the shop. I would have used him, and I am sure been happy!

I just felt a connection to the father/son/brother at IDR. When I had my shop, we were a father/son deal and raced and engineered as well. So it felt like a better version of my old place (we really focused on BMW and AMG more than Ferrari).
