    Not bad at all.
I wasn't sure what to find in this thread when I saw the title.
    I'm pleasantly suprised!

Stefvan so you think your last led strip with cubes and aluminum glued trip is the best tested at the moment?
This last test does not go all the way inside the lamp?

It has been a while since I returned to this thread and it sure does make sense that the previous idea wouldn't last long due to the fluctuation in voltage fed to the SMD strip. It is bound to blow out the diodes one by one. It's great to see that Stef's been up to his usual R&D and now we have a more stable solution. My only gripe is that the light does not fill the entire tube. Then again it sure does look brighter.

Thanks guys, I agree that there isn't an ideal world ;)

The Superflux strip cannot fill up all the way inside the headlight as it is too stiff. Honestly, this doesn't bother me at all and I find it even nicer now because with the SMD5050 or other simple LED strips, it was almost impossible the have all the LED’s facing up. Time will tell if this new solution will be more reliable than the previous solutions but I believe that we are now on a better path using a heat sink and current driver. What I’ve learned from the previous solutions is that none of them where reliable and ended up by failing. Only the initial idea of Anders using Ikea LED’s has been very reliable but was not bright enough at daylight and even minimal at night.

At least we have the chance to deal with the very fast moving world of LED’s. It’s now quite amazing how much brightness can be obtained with LED’s but heat is now getting our enemy . Can you imagine that the Nichia Superflux LED strip has a brightness equivalent to a 60W bulb? Even if such LED’s require a heat sink, in no way they will heat as much as a 60W light bulb and will consume only 6W of power!

The last resort would be to dismantle entirely the headlights to integrate such stiff LED strips in the best way but who’s willing to do that ;) ?

I've gotten this done on my car with LED strips that aren't that bright.. but works well during late afternoon.. or night. Mine fills the tube all the way in after many adjustments.

No heat issues yet and I would like to replace with brighter ones later when a more proven solution is out there that also fits the whole tube

Thanks for sharing and well done. That's what I had before but wasn't really satisfied with the brightness because these LED's are the most simple 5mm LED's. Mine failed quite fast with some sections of 3 LED's that started to flicker and other sections went completely out. There is a way to make them last much longer by adding the right current driver. This will avoid them to be overpowered especially when they are used during long trips (some countries must have their lights all time on).

StefVan yes I want to make the upgrade you have done.. since that one is just the driver.. but I kinda want to do that together with the brighter LEDs.

Mine has not gone out yet but I haven't done any extended driving.

Thanks for the guide you wrote, I will avail of that when I have time!

Ok guys, I have been through this entire thread a few times, and my head is now spinning. Can someone that has been involved and following this tell me what exactly has been found to work and fit the best for this mod with no issues.

Wow, I bookmarked this a while back couldn't find the correct bulb, so i came on here got my answer of H6 ( i hope LOL),
I fully understand SMD5050, 3258, waterproof and normal. and how different spacing is available.
has anyone got a beautiful summary?
I believe a high count (many per Meter) 3258 strip should be sufficient?
if not i may purchase a LED COB H6 bulb. (Cob= Chip on board),
COB ( at least for my gu10 spotlights) being brighter than the old cree smd chips, more efficient and better spread of light.

Sorry for the messy post reply. XD

My F430 has a problem with the Left + Right side position lights & side markers are not working. I checked the fuses, the relays, and parking lights switch, they are all ok.
I need to check the individual bulbs, but I find it very strange that all bulbs on left and right side of the car went bad at the same time.

    Any suggestions or Advice?

    hello everyone, new owner here.

I just purchased an F430 and the headlight has a strip in it. Do the F430's have this from the factory? I never noticed. The bulb lights up blue which is not my fancy, is this a simple bulb replacement?

I'd rather have it light up amber or yellow.

can someone please help point me to the right direction? also a bulb number?

    thank you

If it has a strip its most likely a DIY add on. Many owners have done it to their 430s. Scud Ing Swiss has a proper solution for it. Bullet proof and probably lasts longer than the lifespan of the car. And you mentioned BLUE. Yew...I'd take that out immediately!

Google SCUD ING SWISS and get your 430 lighting updated asap.

Just installed Ultimate DRLs into my 2006 F430. I didn't bother removing the wheels or disconnecting the battery. Only difference is that you have to feed the LED strip using feel cause you can't see the entry point. First strip took a few mins, second one was really easy.

Really recommend this to all owners out there. I always found the standard factory light a little feeble and the yellowish tint is rubbish. Below picture was taken in bright sunlight. There are bright enough that you can see their reflection in the back of cars in front of you.

Have people installed the auto DRL electrical module as well? I'm just using the parking light switch at the moment, but it means having to remember to turn it off.
