just a heads up Angel Fire Resort is not pilot friendly related to weather. I know its tough to accommodate pilots and weather, but some resorts do it for the business. Even with a 24 hour notice that we had to leave a day early because of weather they wouldn't refund the next day. I realize that is their right and I can't argue it, but I can let everyone know Angel Fire Resort is not pilot friendly at least.

easier airport to get in and out of too. I do like how you can stay on the mountain at Angel Fire.

Rob- Angel Fire has been the coldest place in the US two or three times this year. That plus the altitude is not conducive to good weather. Taos is not much better, with the Taos/Alamosa area in the southern San Luis Valley being high, cold, and unpredictable.

Most resorts have clearly laid out rules. if you need an exception, best to work it out in advance. I am sure they did not care whether you were a pilot or not. It is nearly as bad for people driving this time of year. I fish Culebra Creek near San Luis, CO 20-30 days a year on average. I have fished in a blizzard in May. Great fishing, but 8000'+ altitudes make for unpredictable weather at least six months a year, twelve if you count thunderstorms.
