Yep, 59 north through Texarkanna, then Little Rock, & Memphis. It actually just over 600 miles. Long haul in a 308 or GT4. Once we got north of Texark it would cool off and be pretty nice, those first 250 miles would be a bit warm. There isn't a nice fast way to get there. The Arkansas run is pretty boring and going through LA via I-55 isn't any better. If you wanted to do it the long way there is a great route through the country: 59 to Livingston, then east to Alexandria, then Vicksburg, then north along the river road through Greenville and into Memphis.
Anyone from the west coast planning or thinking about going? if so are you driving or having your car shipped? I would really like to go but its a bit far from the Golden Gate Bridge but......
#22641 made it from the Golden Gate Bridge to Houston Texas....so I suppose it's halfway there.....!!!
Hopefully, with any luck I'll have the official location finalized this coming week. I've been speaking with one of the Casinos and we are working thru a couple little things such as secure overnight parking. Keep fingers crossed! JIM
I am to call the Casino on Monday 6/30 to firm everything up. I'll give word as soon as I'm off the phone. JIM
I have a committment from the Grand Casino in Tunica, MS. to block off a group of rooms for this event. I will post an official room rate by this afternoon plus some more info on activities. GET READY! I'll post instructions on how to reserve rooms shortly. There will be an event code that you will need to register....I have a few minor details to work out. JIM
Hey Jim, How about posting a summary of all the fantastic plans? I've leafed through the 'sticky' but would appreciate a summary update for those of us with less patience for sorting thru 5 pages. Event sounds great. Thanks for taking the lead on this. Question to start this off: 308's only? 328's? Mondials? How about a Mondial t cabriolet??? John
"308's in '08" Drive in event at Harrah's Casino (formerly the Grand Casino) in Tunica, Ms. Who is invited? All Ferrari owners, however, keep in mind that this is an event to celebrate the 308 Ferrari. All 3x8 Ferraris, including the 328, Mondial and Mondial T's, F40's, 288's, etc are encouraged to leave their garages and head to Tunica in early October. To let you know that it's OK, I'll be driving my GT4 1,244 miles round trip to meet you there!!!! October 10,11,12, 2008 are the official dates. What is planned? Gathering of your fellow Ferrari Enthusiasts, dinners, car show, tech session, possibly an autoX or track event (TBA). Harrah's offers a casino, golf course, clay shooting range, spa, outlet mall and much more so there is plenty to do while you are there! I have a group rate worked out with Harrah's for Friday/Saturday at $119/nite. For those coming in Thursday it will be less than the weekend rate. Keep an eye on this thread for instructions on how to register. (You will need a code to get the rate) There is going to be a lot of info coming now that I have Harrah's confirmed, so check this thread frequently! Hey Jim, Several of us local guys are now committed to helping you out. We got Tommy from Xtreme Auto here letting us use his shop for a Tech Session. He's got lifts and all equipment needed plus a dyno. I think Clyde was going to put this on? Looks like Habitat for Humanity is going to be the charity and can help us secure the grounds. The Grand Casino is a great place for this event!! Let us know what they say about the Autocross. I've contacted Foreign Cars Italia and looks like they would like to help (Greensbrough, NC). They are experienced in Autocross too. Not sure how insurance is handled for these type events. Hey Mike C. ... Glad to see you on board with this event!! Regards, Tom
I've been lerking in the background till things start to settle. You can count me and my 1980 GTBI #33335 in for the event. Perhaps some of you guys passing my way would like to meet some place in route for a convoy? Im in Biloxi/Gulfport MS which is between New Orleans and Mobile AL. Joe Image Unavailable, Please Login
There will be a few of us coming up from New Orleans and probably a couple more joining in Jackson so we can discuss as we get closer and convoy up.
A very probable Yes, I am waiting on the wife to give a thumbs up. Doug & Carolyn Crall Red 85 308 GTS SN, 52973
UPDATE: I should have everything squared away with Harrah's as far as the rooms today. They are giving a rate of $59 for the days leading up to the weekend and on the Monday afterward. The weekend rate will be $119. (Their normal w/e rate is $189) YOU WILL NEED AN ACCESS CODE TO GET THIS RATE, so don't make any reservations yet! I'll post that code when I get it later today or tomorrow. Things are coming together very well for the event and I"m excited to hear the number of people either post or email me that they are coming. We could very well be on to something big here if everyone shows!!!!! JIM
Jim, What other costs should we expect from this thing, over gas and hotels? Any entry fees, etc? Rough guesses are fine, I'm just trying to figure out how to get my bottom-dweller self to this thing.
