Thanks Dr. Tommy! Every time I get a post here or a PM about a registration, I get all excited. This is going to be a FUN event. I am asking to PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE register early. The more early registrations I get the easier it is to plan and organize. Since I'm driving to Memphis/Tunica a couple days before the event, I don't want to get bombarded with late registrations. JIM
a great idea. does anyone know #55375? red/tan 1985 GTS Euro model. I am the original owner. would love to say hello to the current owner. I owned it for 11 years.
Close to a dozen so far. 50 308 owners either emailed me or PM'd me that they would come, however registration has been slow so far. I really need people to register as early as possible vs. waiting for the last minute. Of the 50 that said 'for sure' I would expect 35 of them plus another 20-30 'other' Ferraris on the conservative side. So 60 or more cars. JIM
WOW! 50 to 60 cars for the first National gathering is great. You might consider asking the Moderators if you can occasionally leave a posting in the various threads to get the word out to as many as possible Congratulations on the success to date with the '308's in 2008' Meet. We are looking forward to seeing you there! Doug Crall
Thanks Doug! Those numbers are based off of feedback about the event in the past year leading up to now. So, now that registration is open I really need those who said "Yeah, I'll come" to register! As far as posting elsewhere, I have the ability to do so now thanks to Rob. So you'll be seeing me post in other threads about the event. I'd REALLY like to see lots of 'other' Ferraris at this event. Thanks for registering early! JIM
Jim, My check and registration went out today by snail mail. I'll PM you the basic info on my car in case you need it to get started. Also, there is a major car event on the MS coast (Biloxi/Gulfport area) starting October 5th-12th called Cruising the Coast. (www.cruisinthecoast.com) Its right here on the Gulf about 385 miles from Tunica and they stop "officially" registering cars at 5000. You'll see everything from a model T Ford to Jet Turbine cars. Each car club has some sort of event. You have the Mopars, the streetrods, the rat-rods, the Cadillacs, The exotics, the antiques, the Cruisers, the Vettes, the Mustangs, the Jag's , every motorcycle club you can think of and so on and so on. The 50's guys will do a sockhop, the streetrods will do a burnout contest, the antiques will sit in lawn chairs and wave as you drive by, the drag strip will be going full bore, ect ect. They have something going on 24-7 especially with the casinos and concerts. They also have a large car auction and parts market but there was no Ferraris last year. If you get anywhere near here you'll start seeing some awesome cars on the road headed down so don't think you are going the wrong direction. Don't plan on attending unless you have a cousin living here, hotels are booked well in advance. To be honest, they have too much going on to really enjoy it becasue you miss so much thats taking place. I'd rather go to something like we're doing for some quality F time! See you in October. Joe
Joe, Thanks for registering, I can't wait to meet you in person! Cruisinthecoast sounds like a good time, but way too big for my tastes. There were many discussions regarding 308's in '08 as to what to do. Ultimately I wanted people to be able to have options with and without the Ferraris, hence the casino setting. I envison there will be a few who will just leave their Ferrari parked at the car show Saturday and will play at the casino all day, whether its golf, skeet, spa, etc... There will be PLENTY to do! That is what will make this an event to remember! JIM
IF there is anyone from California interested in heading out, I've been contacted by someone in NorCal who is interested in sharing cost of a trailer to get some cars out for the event. Please PM me and i'll put you in touch. JIM
Sorry I'm late to read this thread. I saw the photo of your car and it's beautiful! White cars always look so classy. Plus, at some point, the sea of red can get a bit much.
Room is booked... driving over early Friday morning. Maybe Dr. Tommy and I can caravan. Hey Tommy... have you talked to Branko about coming in his 308?
GANG, I have a quote on a car carrier to the event in Tunica. I had been contacted by a couple guys, one in Seattle, a couple in NorCal and some in Texas. The quote is for an enclosed trailer that would originate in Seattle, pick up at a designated spot in Sacramento and then again in Houston. From there they would deliver to the show, wait the weekend and deliver the cars back home starting on Monday. IF YOU ARE SERIOUS, contact me and I'll fill you in. I need 6 cars for this to happen and the owners will need to decide how the cost is split between them. JIM
This would be great-- to get some cars out from the West coast. I was one of the NorCal folks and I hope we can pull it off. Thanks so much Jim!!!!
You don't consider moving the event to Europe by any chance, do you Jim? Because if you would, I'd be in. As things are now, Memphis is just a little bit far away. About 4500 miles, many of them only driveable wearing scuba equipment. Not sure how the Dino would respond to scuba-driving... So... presuming you'll stay in the US: ENJOY!!! Hans
Hey Jim, Any updates? Looks like I'll be heading up on Thursday the 9th, leaving the Biloxi/Gulfport area around 12-1pm. I'll take Hwy 49 North going thru Hattiesburg around 1:45-2pm and into Jackson around 3-3:30? Then I-55 north the rest of the way. If any of you guys from FL, AL or LA are looking at a route on these highways and similar times let me know and I'll adjust. I would think that most driving north will pass through Jackson at some point in the trip. It should be easy to set a time window and a place to meet in Jackson before the final leg to Tunica? Anyone interested?
