The driver side door on my 308 won't close flush, it springs back about .25". I don't want to just attribute it to the cold weather for the last week. I've checked the mechanism and it moves freely and there isn't any junk where the pin goes. The door mechanicsm is working and is required to open the door. Any ideas???

    Thanks

my passenger side door was hard to open when i got the car, the drivers side did what yours is doing now. i cleaned and lubricated the linkage, latch and striker assemblies and all is well now.

On mine, the new weather seal on the removable top puts pressure on the top of the window and tends to spring the door out a bit unless you close it somewhat strongly.

I suggest following reaper's advice--mine started doing that, too, just before it began popping up open all by itself, and not re-latching!

I pulled the door panel off, squirted a lot of Slick 50 One Lube (Tri-Flow would be good, too) on all the exposed parts of the mechanism and it got all buttery-smooth. The old lube gets too thick, especially when it's cold(!), and keeps the rotary latch from rotating far enough fast enough to latch properly.

Check the weather seal that runs down the side of the windshield at about a 45 degree angle. They sometimes slide down and get into the door jamb causing the door to be hard to close or pop open.

I had the same problem. I adjusted the pin that's connected to the body of the car and it solved it.
