I am experiencing an issue with getting both my headlights to pop up at the same time. Most of the time, only the driver's side comes up. Sometimes I'll get in the car and restart it and both sides come up. They both seem to be able to retract without issue. Since both lights do pop-up from time to time, I am not sure if the motors are bad or not. I would just like the car to be normal and pop up and retract at the same time like it should. Any suggestions or any place I can go to to get this fixed? I'm in socal area. Thanks.

Hi Ken. This is a common problem. The motors for the popups do tend to die but it that doesn't sound like it is the problem with yours. The other most common problem is the alignment of the linkage/arms. This can make the popups seem like they have a mind of their own.

I would check that out first and make sure it doesn't look like something is binding when the motors try to move the headlights up and down.

Ok. I'll get that checked out. Is there a thread somewhere that shows pics of how the linkage arms should look? Thanks Steve.

I had a similar problem to yours and changed both the relays in the footell and they now work perfectly - very cheap fix to try :)

The headlight system is pretty easy.

    Turn switch.
    Relay kicks in.
    Motor goes up or down.

I agree with 348Jeff. Swap the relays first and see if the problem moves. If it does, just install new relays.

If it doesn't, your motor internals may need some cleaning. F355steve posted the links on how to accomplish that.

    Best of luck.
