Just wanted to point out a little info I picked up today - the annual (minor) service for the F355 runs at AED 10,500 (USD 2,850) at the main dealer!! Oil (engine, gear, clutch) + filters (engine oil, air, pollen, ac) and general checkup...

What would it cost for just all the above in parts??

In Canada/US, it is about $15 per litre for Redline 10W40 or 5W40, factore about 10-12 litres, + about $40-50 for the oil filter. For the gear oil it is about $12-$13 per quart/bottle, you need five bottles but will only use about four and a half bottles.

These prices are for DIYers, I am not sure what the dealer would charge but I am fairly certain it isn't $2850, maybe $1200 or so?

The normal annual maintenance at least here in the PNW runs just under $1100 at the local dealer.

Glad to know I'm not the only one paying substantially less than $2K for an fluid service/annual! One of the other threads really had me wondering!

You change your tranny, coolant, and brake fluid annually?

Rifledriver recommends engine oil annually, and the rest of the fluids/oils every two years...that's the schedule I have been using.

I would also change the brake fluid as well and flush the system just to be safe

It is a good idea to change/flush your brake fluid every 6 months. this is due to the brake fluid picking up moisture, and becoming less effective.... Engine oil should be changed every 6 months or so independent of milage, engine coolant once a year to maybe every 2 years at the very most.

This is the maintenance schedule that i follow on my current cars, When i buy a Fcar this is the schedule that i will follow with that car as well.

On a side note, the next time you do an oil change you can draw a sample of the oil coming out of the motor these people will analyze the oil for you http://www.blackstone-labs.com/. They will send you a sample bottle and the required shipping container (another bottle) for free. The sample costs about 25$ or so to have analyzed.

Unless you are in an extreme high humidity climate and are worried about the your brakes overheating at the track - Is this not complete overkill changing your brake fluid every 6 mo.?

On my daily driver I change the engine oil every 3 months irrespective of mileage...on my 348 every April, as the manual states once a year or every 10,000 miles

Even though the manufacture may state this is an acceptable interval, i don't know that i would completely trust that recommendation personally. I have worked on newer BMW's who's owners have followed the manufacture's recommended oil change service of every 15,000 miles... Talk about build up in the head.

Oil is cheap and easy to change compared to having to do head work....

As far as every 6 months, for brake fluid.. I keep both of my cars maintained in a condition that i can take either to a track day any time, however i would not go over a year without a brake fluid flush.. The fluid costs around 30$, and takes maybe 45min to do a complete flush.

I understand your concern as this might apply to a typical modern car that has a 10 year expected in-service lifetime of various parts.

These cars are already 13-ish years old and you really don't want to be buying a new caliper piston to replace a corroded one, do you? Or a new ABSing unit,..... Aside from becoming expensive to fix (when not maintained) there might not be a part on the shelf that could be bought at ANY price when under maintanece rears its ugly head.

All in all, its your call. For my car, a little over maintanence is good practice.

These cars (348/355) are outside the normal 10 year service life of normal automobiles, and thus normal rules of thumb don't necessarily apply.
