About a month into my 308 experience: She's a '78 Weber GTS with about 69k. 4k since Major. Picked her up in Pa., and drove to North Carolina without incident (going over the Blue Ridge mountains with the top off near dusk,---A little Frank supplementing the music from behind--- just, well, rocks). Been lurking here for about 2 months, and cannot thank the posters here enough for the mountains of invaluable information helping guide the purchase, As well as the cornucopia of 'Now, do you REALLY know what you're getting into?' warnings. And (for those who proceed anyway), resources for the inevitable 'sorting-out' period.

Did the recommended prophylactic measures--Changed all fluids, checked all rubber bits, placed a fire extinguisher behind the seats, etc. So far, biggest issues have been blown water pump, (great service and price from Dennis McCann), dodgy brake light switch ($7 bucks from Trutlands--I'm still blown away---A seven buck part that will fix a functional issue on a Ferrari? Holy crap! I spent more on zip cord rewiring the overdrive in my old Jag!), and it sounds like a rear axle bearing is about to pack it in(groan). So, while the downtime is frustrating, Despite the other surprises (god, it's pig in slow- moving traffic---clutch and steering that's a free Charles atlas course), and that balky shifter--Well, OK, I read R&T, I knew about that---When in her element this F-car delivers more smiles per mile than anything I've experienced, much less owned (although the old GTV came pretty close---Remember that one, krause?)

And you were smart about your color choice, to boot. ;)

The early 308s have a really stiff clutch pedal, but I believe there's a retrofit of later clutch pedal bits that can get it closer to normal.

Congratulations! I've had my 78 GTS for several years now and I love it more than ever! I don't even notice the heavy clutch anymore.

It is normal just like it is :):).

Welcome aboard -- nice car. Watch the NC section. The Triangle Italians meet most every first Saturday of the month at Brier Creek at 9am between Uno and Camille's to look at our cars, other people's cars, the Porsche guy's cars, etc. Except not June 6 because there is a ride up to VIR which of course you are welcome to join also.

Thanks for the welcome, y'all. I feel even better after having read the string on the silver 328... Jeez! Did well by following advice here to get a less-than-perfect cosmetic example where one can get a good sense of the history (was able to interview the last 2 owners). Thanks for the tip on the clutch retrofit---Anybody know a source?...Although I'll probably wait 'til after addressing the 'sorting out' issues before delving into any mods. Got a couple Tech Q's, so I'll' pop over to Tech Q&A for those. Great board, folks!
