Yet another question as a new F430 owner. One of the problems with having a Ferrari is that it's almost impossible to just google these sorts of questions. :)

Anyway, I was driving up a really steep driveway tonight (30 degrees incline, maybe) and after the car auto downshifted into 1st, there was a long constant beep when I accelerated up the driveway in 1st. No warning lights on the dash or anything but just this long constant beep as I pressed the throttle. When I got to the top I shifted into neutral and then back into 1st and, again, beeping as I moved forward. Turned the car off and back on - no more beep (as far as I can tell - didn't drive more than 5 feet). Just wondering what could cause that.

Thanks! You guys are a lifesaver with this stuff.

    Haha thanks. :)

Could it be the clutch overheat warning? That would sort of make sense... and after searching on this board for like two hours it sounds like that's the sort of alarm it makes? I'm not sure though...

That's only a question that the Ferrari service people could give an answer to.
Not in the book that came with the car that's for sure.

I learned last week in a tech session that the electronics do indeed measure overheating temperatures of the clutch and store them permanently in the memory. In fact, the only way to remove this-- even after a clutch job -- is to change out the module completely with a new one.

If you have the dealer check the memory in the module, they will give you a print out of many factors including this "overheating" time.

One thing you do not want to do with this car: have the clutch slip. If the clutch was slipping as you went up the incline, you're frying the clutch for sure. The trick is to get the clutch to fully engaged and then accelerate.

I don't know if this beep you heard was a warning but it sure sounds suspicious. The electronics definately know when the clutch is being abused and for how long.
