Hi all! Seasons greetings … Earlier this year I bought a RHD Argento 550 Barchetta…. I’ve had a lot of fun and I’m seriously looking at buying another one - already put offers in for two that are on sale and negotiating as we speak . Am I mad ?! Sad?! Or just Bad?! The fact that it’s a manual , open top , v limited ( only 42 Uk RHD cars out of 48 RHD ROW) is a major factor but the main factor is open top fun fun fun ! I drove her back to back with my 812 GTS and although the GTS excels, the Barchetta gave me more smiles per mile . My heart says buy a 2nd one but my brain says no - don’t be silly. 1st world problem ….thoughts….?
Nothing wrong with having more than one of what you love. I have way more fly rods than I need, but they were a bit less expensive than a Barchetta.

I’m jealous. But as long as you only keep buying RHD Barchettas and leave a LHD out there for my dreams I’m ok with it!!
Is this adding a 2nd? Or did you selll the old one? If adding a 2nd, I'd say buy another car or several cars so you have a bigger variety of cars to choose from...Perhaps a 599 GTO (a bit of a stretch perhaps), or a CS + Speciale
75 RHD in total. Seems a bit strange to me to buy a second Barchetta when there are so many other different Ferraris. I mean, you can't drive two at once and given the UK weather limits how often you can drive one anyway.
Have a bid on this one. https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2001-ferrari-550-barchetta-pininfarina It will be interesting to see where it ends up, although I suspect specialist dealers will be chipping in bids to stop the end price being perceived as too low.
48 RHD I believe . 42 in Uk . I also have more than 1 pair of shoes although I can only wear 1 at a time . Also wear them although rains in England so much .
Keeping the 1st and thinking of adding a 2nd…. I’ve thought about that too - I sold my Speciale a few years ago after doing 5k miles on it and I’d had that fun - buying a CS is a serious option instead of another Barchetta but I keep getting drawn back to manual v12s!
No, 75. 42 UK cars, 17 Australia/New Zealand, 16 Hong Kong/Singapore etc. But are all your shoes the same?
I think we should contact and correct the 4 uk dealers who state 48 cars in all their sales talk - trading standards and all that ! My shoes are all the same size 10 ( uk) ….but different colours … After your correction of numbers however , I’m going to contact the shoe manufacturers as they state only 1,326,454 pairs of that model made but now I’m having a seconds thoughts ‘wobble’ Seriously , can you let me know where you got those figures from as important point for me to correct the dealers during ‘negotiations ‘
I have all the chassis numbers. I can PM you them if you want? It is reasonably logical that 48 total RHD cannot be correct when there were 42 UK cars. As a very rough rule of thumb, the UK gets about 10% of total production and about 60% of RHD production. If there were only 48 in total then there would only be six cars to spread around Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore (all quite big markets) plus other RHD markets including South Africa, Malaysia etc. I doubt any 550 Barchettas were supplied new to India but I don't know for sure although I don't believe there was a main dealer for India at the time. I don't know where the 48 came from but probably from all originally from the same (incorrect) source!
Blue!! Which blue? TDF? Pozzi? Im a sucker for the Barchetta. One of the sexiest cars ever. A yellow Barchetta will join my garage one day.
In that case, fair play! For sure it's very likely to be a safe place to put your money... If you can stretch it, would a GTO engineering 250 SWB not be of interest?
Thanks for the info- no need to send chassis numbers - I can only count up to 10 before I start using my toes ! Lol
you have good taste … a dark unusual blue ( not TDF or pozzi- ) but will wait to see if I end up doing the deal shortly
