So have waited over a year for my 812GTS Build. So excited to get the first then the second production photos in the my Ferrari App. Car now on water according to dealer. So excited waiting for it to arrive first Ferrari I have speced. Have purchased several used. Showed production photo to a friend who says why did you not spec shields. I said I did. He says Then why does the photos not have then. There are no wheel caps either so I thought that the Sheilds have not been applied yet along with the wheel caps. I reached out to my dealer who says the car was built without shield despite the dealer saying they ordered it with shields. I have the signed final spec sheet that has shield on it. Dealer says there’s really nothing that can be done they offered to apply a badge to it or use a sticker badge. I’m extremely upset this is over a half $1 million car that I’ve been waiting for for a year and it sounds like nothing else can be done. I would expect that Ferrari would have better quality control than to let something like this happen. Unless it was a dealer screwup and they are just blaming the factory. Is there anything I can do for recourse? I’m just hugely disappointed.

Dide it will look much better without shields. Wait till you see it then decide. What’s the rest of the spec?

I guess having the shields properly installed would mean replacing the fenders, but then you'd have a car not identical to its spec sheet (as detailed on the plate in the boot).
So actually there's no real corrective action possible, I think you have to take the car as it is and ask for some good will compensation... if Ferrari and / or the dealer do not care about their customers (short sighted approach, but still possible) there is not much hope, otherwise they have to do something (I'd ask for some invitation to some Ferrari event, or some significant discount to one for instance).

I think you are overreacting. It's way too early to say anything.
    Where are you? Country? Location?
    Who is your dealer?
What kind of written, agreed and signed documents really exist?
Forget all those pix on your phone and app. That is useless anyway and it is more than well known that the factory is simply not capable or willing to provide correct information and photos. They simply don't care.
I bought several brand new Ferraris and got all sorts of things wrong. Tags, shields, wheels, etc. And then sometime it took 9 months to provide the correct stuff.
Therefore, please just wait until you stand in front of your car. And then react.
Meanwhile: your location? your dealer's name?

Hope you are right but Dealer says they checked Ferrari system and no shields on build. I have spec sheet from dealer they had me sign to confirm specs that has shield on it. Dealer says they entered shields on build and it’s a factory mistake. I’m east coast USA Algar/ Ferrari Philadelphia.

Since Algar was just taken over by RDS automotive, I would have the manager/owner protest on your behalf since new owners can't be blamed for previous owner's ordering errors. RDS has a great reputation so can't see why they wouldn't reach out to FNA on your behalf to get some sort of compensation especially since they are new to the Ferrari brand.

unfortunately sounds like that will not be an option as shields are painted before clear coat and new fenders paint would likely not match car. if and it sounds like its no, Ferrari would send a new set of fenders with shields.

Ask your dealer for a photo shot of your cars spec. showing the shields on the Ferrari modus system, which will prove they did order them.

Also check your app on my Ferrari or online at my Ferrari, that will show if shields were ordered at Ferraris end. My Ferrari is not great as lots of the more unusual item don’t show up. But shields do.

This is not the first time it has happened, there is a thread on here about the same thing happening.

It may not be too late to get painted shields. Perhaps they can buff out the clear, paint the shields and then respray the clear.

Call Classic Coach on Monday and ask if they can paint the shields. Tell Algar to have FNA send the car directly to them from the port. Classic Coach does repairs for FNA for cars that are damaged during transport. If anybody can do it they can.

I understand that you’re upset. There’s no doubt that they have screwed up if this is the case. They should sort this out.

But in my view, they have kind of done you a favor. Modern Ferraris without shields are very rare, and they all look 1 million times better without it in my opinion. Especially the 812. I think your car will look absolutely fantastic and much more elegant without the shields. Your car will be a sea of well sculpted metal covered in Rosso Maranello without any interruptions.

But this is of course not acceptable and even though I think your car will turn out so much better now(!), it does not make up for an excuse on behalf of your dealer and the factory.

Exact same thing happened to a buddy. He refused to take the car. BTW: took ages for the dealer to sell it as with no shields its much harder.

Having said that I believe Ferrari authorised repair shops can apply painted shields - so its down to who pays if this is the route you take

    So sorry for your situation.

On the bright side you have a desired car coming as a first new Ferrari. No down side.

IMHO the shields are a tad small and your have an opportunity here.

Wait, see the car and decide what you think and what will give you satisfaction. Hopefully the dealer is on your side. Worse case, send the car back and have it corrected as an option at Zanasi…..That would be the ultimate but take time……

In the end, the car will be amazing with or without shields….

    good luck

Wait till you see the car in person, like everyone has said. They probably input the order without shields, which is an unfortunate mixup. Be sure to go over the car and make sure all your other options are correct.

Sorry to hear that. I ordered a 540i Sport BMW in 1998 and it was $60k which was a lot back them. Waited over 8 months for it. Checked the build sheet every month with the dealer. I also ordered the comfort seats to offset the harsher ride of the sport package. Car came with the hard sport seats. I refused the car. They re-ordered it and it took 4 more months. They gave me a 540i loaner gratis during that period.

Our Fchat friends already gave you good suggestions and inputs so basically I repeat above concepts
It’s a really bothering situation and overeacting is normal but in Italy we said “Non tutti i mali vengono per nuocere” and probably the correct translation is “not all evils come to harm”

I guess this is exactly the situation!
First 812 looks much more better with painted shields or without than the standard one….of course IMHO
Second honestly is also true that in case of resale it could be more diffcult but everything depends much more how the car has been speccified. Look at above GTS in rosso rubino at Joe Macari, who cares is without shields, yes looks better without than the small one.
Also masrket perception changed after the launch of Roma and started to appreciate cars w/o shields.
For example in my case when I configured my 812Competizione at TM the painted shields option was not still available. So I was ready to order the car w/o. I waited untill they became available and then I locked the spec in the system.
My 812 GTS has painted shields as well.
Third you have a big opportunity if you really want the shields to have them painted, the holy grail!! Just ask the dealer to send the fenders to Zanasi and they will paint in one week. They can use the original fenders no need a new set. If they refuse you can do by yourself but before agree that they will pay for it cause is 99,9% dealer mistake.
If you need the direct contact in Zanasi just send me a PM. Zanasi, being a certified partner of Ferrari, will also release a Certificate of Authencity that you can show in case of resale. As far as I know there isn’t any bodyshop in the world authorized to do the same

Finally wait to see the car in the flesh and then take some time to understand what you really want……enjoy this amazing machine in good health because when you will drive it you will forget about everything and in any case you will not see the shields :))

I had the same exact problem. I considered all the options but In the end I just sucked it up and live with it, BUT without regret. The car is still beautiful, it is now more rare, and surprisingly I have never had one person even comment they were missing. I did change the yellow wheel center caps to black.. You will love the car, and the fact the values are considerably above sticker, and I am very happy just to have one.
    Don't fret,, enjoy the car.
    Kind regards,

Seems to me like the people trying to persuade the OP that no shields looks good are missing the point - if he’d wanted no shields, he would have ordered that. No point in trying to justify a mistake now on a $500k purchase.

I agree makes sense to wait and see the car in person though.

The exact same thing happened to someone I know with a California T he ordered. He wanted a replacement car but in the end it was agreed that the relevant panels would be (and were) replaced with new ones with the shields.

Since you have a copy of the spec you signed off, the mistake is clearly Ferrari's somewhere down the line and it is up to them to rectify it.
