It's possible that in addition to Michael equallying Senna's pole record, Nico Rosberg may have accomplished the fastest race lap under normal conditions in a first GP. He certainly won the attention of champions. Jackie Stewart commented that "it's the best performance of any young driver that he's seen for a very long time." Nico is definitely the one to watch. I thought for sure he was out of the race after the incident at the start. I liked Nico's comment - "It's great that I was able to add some excitement to the race." He always heard it was impossible to overtake in F1 but commented that "it worked fine for me."

Its great to see that Williams could become the Dark Horse of the series. The performance in the race makes amens for loosing it in qualifying. He does have the weight of being as "good as dad", on his shoulders but soo far he seems to have impressed everyone.

Tho its still only 1 race and anything can happen. Lets not forget Button who was in the same position in 2000 and is still struggling for a race win 101 races later...

But at least we have the enthusiasm of youth again. As well as a few different competitive cars on the grid.

Nico was pretty impressive. I bet the 20,000 rev redline of the Cosworth didn't hurt his performance either.

Jacques Villeneuve had fastest lap at Australia 1996 in a Williams

Japan 1976 Masahiro Hasemi in the Kojima...but that was a case of a weird, heavy rain followed by drying track, some special tires

Obviously not under normal conditions for Hasemi, therefore I wouldn't think he'd be compared with Nico.

IMHO that honor would go to the newly styled trophies. They no longer look like office waste paper baskets.

    Sorry, Carol.
I started a Nico thread without seeing this one first. I just finished watching the race today and posted after seeing no threads with " Nico " in the title.
