Briatore just announced that Renault will support Bernie's group. This is an interesting statement from two perspectives:

    a) Another manufacturer changes his alliance
    b) It somewhat implies Renault will be around past 2006

And maybe with Telefonica assistance, they will hire Montoya?

Did the motor sports world really believe there would ever be a break away F1 series? Or did they realize this was a bargaining tool for negotiations so the teams could get a better cut financially?

When Ferrari sided with Bernie, that was the end. Half the spectators at any F1 event are wearing red.

I never believed the manufacturers could actually agree on ANYTHING (too many selfish interests) so I never took the series seriously. However I was/am concerned that they could make this all very messy. I remember the pirate races from the early eighties in the FISA/FOCA war which threatened to tear F1 apart. Luckily cooler heads prevailed. Seeing CART and IRL go separate ways was sad enough and ultimately hurt both sides.

I believe it's more than half wearing red you just don't see it publicly. Funny how this comes about after the profit from 2005 is announced and new teams are entering the sport. Coincidence?

More than half wearing red? Not in Barcelona...:)

No coincidence on the new teams coming in. Also no coincidence the FIA got rid of the 50 mio safety deposit.
