I know there have been several posts about the broken leather straps. Mine also just broke. I know I can get replacement belts but bigger issue is these appear to be riveted into the body panel. How on earth can I put a new one on if its got rivets?

You have to pull the front tub out. Not that big of a job. Remove rubber weather stripping and trim panels . Remove mounting screws from the tub and lift out gently. You'll have 2 connectors that you'll want to disconnect for the trunk lights.

In my old 360 Spider I replaced the straps by carefully drilling out the rivets and then installing slightly larger rivets. I never removed the liner and completed the repair in 15 minutes.

Did the same on my 458. Was easy for the most part. Got rid of the fake ground& roasted leather straps. Saved the hardware from the original straps. Purchased new straps from local saddle shop. Never removed the liner.

I forgot to mention that I also reused the original brackets and installed on new straps obtained from a saddle shop. They did a perfect match and so much better quality than original.

But now you've devalued your Ferrari by using Chinese rivets.

With all due respect, in a world where parts come from around the world, do we know where Ferrari originally sourced their rivets? I am not sure the rivets I used on my old 360 came from China. Actually, they came from a friends box of rivets that he had for decades. But to your point, I did use very slightly oversized rivets that did not have a Ferrari part number and if this car ever makes it to Monterey or to an FCA National Meet, it could get dinged. Would I use rivets from my friends supply on a 250 GTO? Absolutely, not but I thought it was a reasonable decision for a 2004 360 Spider, F1 with $15k miles. Now I am curious, where does Ferrari source their rivets? I'll have to investigate because I do love Ferrari history.

I would not drill without removing the tub, There is a wiring harness directly behind the rivet holes and there are wires there too!
