    Hi,
why some models have perfored caps on the side, and others have plain caps?

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

Does it have something to do with sound level?
    Thanks.

No return; neither from Capristo Germany nor Capristo US.

I'm surprised nobody knows about this. o_O

    Thanks.
I also found this post with some infos:
    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/137895785/
Not sure if they're accurate though.

The german link has more valuable info from Capristo.
For what I understand, there are Capristo with 2 plain caps (stage1), and some with 2 perforated caps (both level 2 and 3).
You have to see through the holes if there is silencer material in it to know if i's a stage 2 or 3.

I spoke to Ralf last night who is the Head of Technical at Capristo and he gave me the info I posted.

That post from Antonio is pretty old so I'd go with Ralf's current info over what Antonio said all those years ago!

It depends of why you need this info. Might be true for current production.
In my case, it is for a second hand exhaust, so the old post from Antonio might be more corresponding to an old exhaust :)

FWIW, I have one of the very early Capristo Level 1, which has the perforated caps. I believe it's equivalent to a current level 2, whereas the current level 1 has a larger upper chamber and the end caps are solid (I think).
I'd imagine it's a noise thing, although how / why I don't know as you wouldn't have exhaust gas exiting there. Maybe they don't have any wadding inside the ones with perforated caps?
Either way, it makes a belting noise.

It is alway hard to figure which model or sound levels with Capristo. So many different informations.
Adding fluctuations in production doesn't help.

What do you mean by "belting noise"?

    Level 2.

1 there is too much difference between loud and quiet, 2 there isn't enough difference between loud and quiet.

Yes, I'm afraid of the ON/OFF effect that a level 1 could have.
I'm sure the level one Capristo is quieter than my Larini at iddle, but I'm worried it could be louder when valve is open.
Maybe a Tubi Evo would be better for me...

I have a Tubi I’d like to get rid of for a capristo…

    I understand.
Why not getting the Evo instead of a Capristo?
It is cheaper and I think close in quality.

I had set my mind to buy a new Evo, but someone offered me a second hand Capristo (stage1 I guess) at same price.
I'm planning to buy it, and if I don't like it, I'm sure I could resell it fast.

I don’t have enough data on the evo, but my guess is that it still doesn’t produce that same as shriek that a capristo is notorious for.

I really want the kreisseig ultimate but can’t justify the price
