Another Dallas Icon Bites the dust

Club Schmitz, the longest continuing beer selling establishment in Dallas is closing it's doors at the end of this month. We had an FCA lunch here after the Norwoods tech session last year..
What do you folks think about a Saturday lunch there this month on the 17th or the 24th. I think if we wait until the last Saturday there will be no way to get into the joint. I understand there are lines now, so we would probably meet there at about 11:00 on either of those Saturdays.
Give me an idea what day you would be interested in and we will see if we can get something set up. Remember this is a piece of Dallas history that is going away for ever. It actually burned down at one time and the two principals went out and bought beer and sold it out of ice chests in the parking lot while the place was being rebuilt.
Let's see if we can help give the Club Schmitz a fair adieu!

 

That is a good idea, if we meet there about 1:30 perhaps some of the lunch crowd may have dissipated. Club Schmitz Burgers and gun powder--now that is a power lunch!

 

I will go by mid-week and talk to them about a table in the South Esplanade! Circa 1:30PM

 

Arrived at the Schmidtz at 1:25 today to arrange our arrival tomorrow. The guy just inside the front door had been waiting in line for 30 minutes. I talked to one of the wait staff about arranging a couple of tables for our group. Her reply was people start getting her about 10:30 and drink beer all day. By 1:30 you won't be able to get into the parking lot on Saturday!
So I think it would be best to remember Club Schmidtz they way we say it the last time "cause we ain't gona get in".
