I believe it must be too good to be true, but just in case I have already emailed the seller. My first reason is to make sure the seller is aware of the posting and if it is legitiment (about a .0005% chance) to get myself pre-approved!

I will post a follow-up as soon as I hear.

Don't get fooled dude. It is a scam, report them to ebay...e-mailing the guy isn't going to get you anywhere. It's not like he's going to tell you he's trying to scam you.

Hmmmm...the odd thing is that this dude has 100% positive feedback...someone must be using his account without his knowledge...I can't see someone with 167 positive feedbacks trying to pull something like this off...but then again anything is possible...

    Cheers,

At this point in the evolution of the Fchat police, it's not even worth posting another obvious scam, just notify ebay. I'e suggested they make it easier to report a fraudulent ad, but it still takes a dozen clicks to get where you need to go. That 's still easier than going through the live help as you have to wait for assistance. Just report these scams that are similar to previous ones to ebay. The live help guy needed about 30 seconds to look at the auction and agree that it was prolly fake.
Just keep these scammers from fooling the uninitiated! GO GO GO

That is a scam. The way that they are doing this now is stealing passwords from trusted sellers with high feedback ratings. That is the reason why his e mail address is different from the User ID's e mail address. I have no idea how they keep getting peoples Passwords but it is getting pretty bad.

highest dollar item he bough...$4...lowest....1 penny...even if averaged $2 a transaction, he only has $300 bucks into this scam...and he looks like a golden seller. He would have been better starting it off at a dollar and letting the price run up, at least it would have looked more realistic.

My brother and I emailed this guy on the car, we both got back the same responce with no answers to our questions. This has got to be a scam no one would sell a $70K plus car for $25K. I just wounder why eBay can't get rid of these people!

    Hello ,

My name is Michael Perry. Please excuse my delay but I received many requests
for my awesome 1995 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta and it's more than I expected.
First of all, I want to thank you for your interest in my 1995 Ferrari F355
    Berlinetta.

Well, I have to let you know the car is in a perfect condition. The car is
in running and drivable condition needing no repairs and meet all USA
standard for immediate re-title in your home state. The car will come with a
    clear title, bill of sale.

The price for the Ferrari with shipping included, is $25,000.00 US. Shipping
will be done via Lufthansa and it will take no more then 4-5 days until
you'll have it at your door step. It will be shipped from Athens/Greece. I
will support the shipping taxes, insurance and handling via Lufthansa
    Airplane Cargo insured.

Also, I have to let you know that I want a deposit of $5,000.00 prior
shipping since I will ship it in the same day or next day after the first
    payment is complete.

For the moment I can only accept a wire transfer as a payment method and the
    fastest is Western Union.

You have nothing to worry about because this deal will be done in a secure
    way if you prefer.
The most important thing in all my activity here is that I am affiliated at
Ebay Square Trade , I have a a purchase protection account for $5,000.00 and
I assume you know what this means.

How you are protected by Square Trade , in case we have a deal:

    1) If you will not receive the car as i described to you, although this is
not the case, Square Trade will refund you with 100% from the whole amount
    which you paid me.
Even in case you will not receive the car, they will refund you the money.

    2) You can send the money to my name and address but you will not give me
the details from the payment. You will give the details to Square Trade. They
will verify the payment and if it is OK, if the money are available under my
name they will notify me to proceeder with the shipping. After you receive
and check that the car is the one you want and paid for, you just notify
Square Trade to forward me the payment details in order for me to pick up my
    money.

All the manuals and the original documents are in English. It is made for US
market and has US specs on it (speedometer in miles, etc...). The buyer will
receive this along with all papers and receipts that he needs to register it
    in his name.
He will receive the TITLE, keys, owner manual, all paperwork ... It has a
Clear Title and it is in Showroom Condition.

Please REPLY WITH YOUR EBAY USER ID, FULL NAME AND SHIPPING ADDRESS IN YOUR
NEXT EMAIL SO I CAN CONTACT SQUARE TRADE!
I will wait for your email to let me know if you are interested in knowing
    more details about the purchase.

Let me know if this is OK with you, so that we can move forward with this
    deal!

So, let me know your decision.
    Thanks for your time,
    Sincerely, Michael Perry

Since my dad worked for Lufthansa for 40+years I would send the money to Lufthansa in Athens. If he produces the car and the title he gets the funds cleared. Its called Letter of Credit if you do it through a bank.

Bank confirms that they have the money and will pay against the shipping docs received at the port (airport in this case) and against the title.

Of course this is a scam. Must be the same car that was sitting in the Washington Embassy of the Spanish Government, right? They traded it for some Olympic tickets to the Greek government :)

Can you believe the balls on this guy!

    Doug ,

I need money fast because my daughter has some serious health problems. She suffers from a rare heart disease and she urgently needs a heart surgery, which is very expensive, so now I must sell this car very fast because this could be our only chance.

I'm aware that the car worth more then that , but the car is less important
right now then my daugther's health!

Just let me know if you are really interested!
    Thanks
    Michael Perry

This guy is simply hilarious. It's amazing how stupid some people truly are.

Anyway, on to the story. Please read it through because his statements start to contradict about 3/4th's of the way through the conversation.

I emailed the guy as soon as I saw the auction on eBay. I think the email conversations will best tell the story, so I will just post those here:

    My first email:

    His response:

    I then replied:

    His next response:

    My reply:

    And his absurd reply:

Those are all the emails that have been sent between the two of us. However there are some things that are just amazing about this guy:

1). The item location on the auction page says "San Antonio, Texas." However, he then told me in the email it was actually in Athens, Greece.

2). I said I would fly to Athens, Greece to see the car. He then told me the car was being held by the shipping company (Lufthansa) and I could not see it. I wonder why the car is already in the possession of the shipping company? That seems a bit weird.

3). He will not even allow me to speak to him on the phone before I agree to pay $25,000 for the car. How can he expect someone to give him $25,000 if he will not even speak to them?

4). He says he is associated with Square Trade and that the transaction is protected by their services. However, I visited Square Trade's website and learned that all people dealing with Square Trade should have the official logo next to their eBay user ID. This seller has no logo, which leads me to believe that he is not really associated with Square Trade.

5). He is no longer a registered eBay user. His account was deleted this morning. That seems odd.

6). He says he wants to sell the car ASAP due to his daughter's failing health. If that is true, wouldn't he rather get the transaction straightened out over the phone, which would take MUCH LESS TIME than playing email tag?

7). He must be nocturnal. By the Athens time standard (remember, he said he was already in Athens), he responded to my emails at the following times: 10:39 PM, 2:56 AM, and 6:19 AM
Doesn't that strike you as a bit out of the ordinary?

8). He says I offended him by asking for his phone number. I do not think it is unreasonable to ask for someone's phone number before you agree to spend $25,000 with them.

I intend to address those issues in a future email. Here is a copy of the email, but I haven't sent it to him yet.

I have already contacted Lufthansa (who supposedly has possession of the car) to find out if the car is in their possession. I faxed my inquiry to them this afternoon, so I will probably not see a response for a couple of days.

I hope you guys enjoyed the reading. I am still shocked at this guy.

    -Zach
