If this one has been posted, I apologize.
I tried bidding on a set of wheels for a Porsche and the auction went higher than I wanted to bid and ended. 36 hours later I received a "second chance offer" that looked pretty legit except it came by direct email but had all the EBAY links etc.... The email address it came from was [email protected] but it appeared as just his name as the email sender. The wheels were supposed to be in PA. Through EBAY, I emailed the actual seller through his completed auction and he said they had been sold while this guy continued to contact me.
I think ebay is great, but you can't get too hasty when buying or selling. If you are buying a larger ticket item, ask the seller for more pictures after the auction.

it happens all the time. the second chance offer is made on all items of substantial price. i cannot believe that e-bay has done nothing about this.

    what a shame.

Even Craigslist has warnings plastered all over of scams. Ebay would rather stick their heads in the sand over this stuff. Thanks for the reminder.
