...And another "unidentified object" more or less fitting the same description as the one above shot down by an F-22 over Canada on request from the canadian authorities. Rgds
Is this something that has been going on for a long time ( not the few we missed over the last 6 years) and now we are taking notice .. or is this a new thing - thoughts ??
I think these things have been floating around for a while. Now that the Biden administration has been embarrassed they have to play tough guy and fire missiles at them.
Can anyone chime in on the lasers spotted beaming down off Hawaii. So weird.. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Long Time. Since Starfish Prime at least. Video of the object shot down over Lake Huron: https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/breaking-first-footage-lake-huron-29199558
Journalism on a budget. Picture at top of article has caption "The balloons were destroyed by cutting edge F-22 Raptor stealth jets", while picture shows Mig-29's lol
Had breakfast over weekend with retired AF F4 pilot and this was all he talked about. I asked why main gun was not used to create a slower leak so balloons would come down slower and do less damage to payload. He said F22 gun port will not open at that high an altitude but had no explanation as to why. I think he said in excess of 50,000 feet. Anyone know why?
Bad news about the cannons on our fighters is there is no time out on the shells. Once you fire it, those projectiles are going to come down somewhere and from FL600, that could be a long ways out there starting at 3200 fps. Not good for any boats in the vicinity. Plus lots of wind between FL600 (11 miles up) and the surface, and we wanted to make sure it came down inside the 12 mile limit. So a pretty good size hole was fine and the AIM-9's warhead fit the bill. At FL600, it is even possible the gas from the cannon could affect the intakes in the very thin atmosphere. Note it took the F-16 near the Great Lakes 2 AIM-9s to kill whatever that was.
Thats true. Up there they would have come down a long way off. Didnt think of the engine consuming the muzzle smoke and that would be altitude variable.
Not a lot of thermal signature for the seeker to home in on, further complicated by the background which would be dependent on the altitude/attitude of the approaching (attacking) aircraft.
It is still all thermal, and always been a matter of contrast. Background is paramount to contrast. I have thermal gear, so know how they work.
I never doubted you knew how they work. Its all about contrast. What brand/model of tire is this? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Beats me. I could put an LGB through a window from 8 miles hand tracking with Pave Tack, but tire ID is not one of my strong points.
I don't wonder at all. I could walk down the street and pick 535 people at random, put them in the house and senate and we'd be better served.
