I just want to make a point before we continue, I have no negativity directed towards you and am not looking to give you anything more than food for thought based on my own experiences. In all fairness I did not hear the original phone conversation you had with the seller. Clearly he believes the wheel is worth more if the condition was better. Your picture of the one spot in the back of thw wheel doesn't tell the whole story about its usability. I don't own a 308, so I can't say if that area affects the driveability. I just feel that the wheel in the condition that it is in, is probably worth what you paid for it(you have an offer already in less than 24 hrs of the post) and being that you did not do your due dillagence, it is now your responsibility.

He's a very nice guy offering to buy it for use as a table.
However I certainly wouldn't consider his generous offer as validation $400 was an equitable value for a wheel in that condition.

Yes I agree. He may not have outright lied to you, but failing to mention the poor condition of the wheel, in my view, is deceptive. It's reasonable to assume an offer is for a serviceable part, and not scrap. Who would think someone on F chat would sell that piece of corroded junk as anything but an objet d'art ?

I can't even blame you for not asking for a picture, if you're not worried about perfect cosmetics, only intending to use as a spare etc. He may claim it's your problem for not excercising due dilligence, for not seeing past his confidence game, and that maybe lawful. Caveat Emptor. But IMO the seller rightfully deserves the negative reaction and loss of reputation.

I think you'll find that if it's material and goes undisclosed, that that's fraud and misrepresentation. WAY more than deceptive.

Anyone who knows anything about cars can easily look at that wheel and tell there is a problem---Do you want ANY kind of problem on a wheel of a car you may be driving down the road in? Would you want to put a wheel in that condition on YOUR car based on the pic?

The offer was for the wheel to be used as a piece of furniture, hardly makes it roadworthy. The price is not the issue here, what he payed and what he received is not the issue here---The issue is a LONG time user on Fchat sold a wheel to another long time user on Fchat that is obviously not in a condition that he claimed it to be...

So not getting a pic beforehand was Matt not doing his due diligence? Matt clearly said he should of done that, but that does not make this entire cluster his responsibility....

Would any of you here put this wheel on your car and feel perfectly safe everytime you go for a drive???

At least not in here IMHO. Ebay is a very different can of worms. [Although, for all their faults, I'm certain that one of the first things potential buyers look at is "feedback" - If it's not really good, move on to the next - The "community", peer-pressure thing is very powerful.]

I do hear what Bullfighter's saying - A PC etc and you can become a member, but I can't help thinking that Matt would have been more diligent if dealing with a noob rather than a long term, traditionally helpful member.

Exactly. And when asked for a refund, go ahead and provide it. No harm, no foul.

It was simply *ignoring* the polite and reasonable request that did the harm IMHO.

    Cheers,
    Ian

A more salient question is that would any of you try to sell this wheel at all to a fellow F-Chatter for anything other than scrap. That's what gets me on this whole thing; Greg has been a great long time poster here with many excellent posts and that he did what he looks like he did really gets me down. I would have done the same thing, buying the rim sight unseen as I trust you guys implicitly. (Meaning well known, long time posters of course)

    Hold on there...

As Steve's designated agent and heretofore established representative on Earth, I would like to request that prior to the completion of this transaction, documentary and photographic evidence will be provided to establish that this bridge built with imaginary, expensive-to-ship bricks has both water under it and fire-resistance so as to never be burned.

With kindest and legally-binding best regards,
    Andrew.

Ok, and I didn't mean to take it too personally, but listen, if I sold a wheel (and by the way I JUST sold a set of 355 challenge rims to another Fchatter) and he told me when he recieved them that he didn't want them and he wanted his money back, I WOULD HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM taking them back, especially if the shipping was on his dime.

This seller clearly feels no responsibility to represent himself in a standup manner, and had he even ONCE contacted me with the many opportunities I presented him, we may have been able to resolve the issue, but he chose to go another way.

His call, I just don't want someone else to be put in the same position, and from this thread I believe that will be the case.

Major service due this November on the 355. All parts will be ordered from Daniel.

Truth is they would have been ordered from Daniel anyway but I will break something between now and November so keep 355 parts in stock Daniel. :D

Daniel and I have settled the issue so as far as I am concerned it is done.

I can't thank Daniel at Ricambi enough for helping out here. He has won my respect and my admiration in addition to my business, and I will support him whenever and wherever possible.

As happy as I am to hear that this issue may be resolved on Matts part I must admit I am curious to hear Gregs side of the story, whatever that may be. I know he alluded to it in his post, but if there is more I would like to hear it.

I mean no disrespect to Matt when I say this, but in fairness, I do think that Greg should state whatever may be his case and would really like for him to do so. I REALLY hope he does so that this can be resolved with some sort of respect on some level restored to Greg.
