I know many are used to reading threads regarding what went wrong with their Ferrari or the " how to fix it. " threads. Well, I always seem to ask myself, nobody ever says how well the drive went, not a glitch in anything about the car. Drove it, drove it some more, got gas, drove it a little more, then had to be home. I drove it yesterday, had a few hours to kill before the wife came home with the baby. So I drove, freeway and streets, some windy roads. Then back on the freeway, with absolutely NO DESTINATION! Just putting around having a good time. Car runs great, shifts smooth like butter, sounds plain NASTY at high RPM'S ( thanks Daniel@ricambi and X-OST). How much did I pay for this car again? You gotta be kiddin me, WHAT A STEAL! Anyway, back on subject.... Every car, mustang, camaro, older chevy's or whatever car they were in either honked to say hi, or rev'd and wanted to race, whatever. Saw a Lamborghini Jalpa that looked absolutely perfect, sounded great. beep beep Anyway, had a great day with the car, couldn't be happier with it. Sorry to endlessly ramble here, but I really feel there aren't enough threads that show the positives of these cars. Too many people only want to hear and learn the negatives, for those of you interested in neg's. sorry, Don't have any for ya I ask myself this question (car is scheduled for the major next month).... Q: Why schedule to have the major done on a car that runs so good? A: I know what it feels like to drive a car that runs great. I can't wait to see how this car runs when it is "PERFECT!" For the record, www.Eugeniosferrariservice.com is doing the major next month. Perfection should be expected apprx 3 weeks after I give the car. Then, and only then I will know what "PERFECT" feels like. I just don't what I'm gonna do without the car for 3-4 weeks!!!!! oh ya, forgot I have a wife and daughter In case you haven't seen the car I am raving about, here it is. For those of you who have seen it too many time.....TOO BAD, Here's one more pic : (My car, not my house ) For those of you who want to add to the positive Ferrari driving experience thread, be my guest, type away Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good post. I had my 328 out today for a lunch drive around the lake here, nothing fast but left me feeling great. By the time I got home there was no other car on the planet that I wanted. For anyone lurking here, I'd say buy the best '80s/early '90s Ferrari you can, well cared-for, and then enjoy it. In terms of raw automotive joy, nothing else can touch it.
Nice post mate. I always enjoy my 348 everytime I take her out also. Read the showroom thread more often. Nearly every drive I go on results in pics being posted there and me having a great time. 348's rule!!
I took the 348 to dinner at my in-laws Sunday evening. The highway was backed up so I went the regular street route. I was getting ready to make a left turn in front of an oncoming car and figured I had plenty of time if I really got on the throttle... Accellerating to the top of third gear then hard braking and a downshift before the corner approached at about 60ish. The turn in was crisp and the back end was starting to get ever so slightly loose I gave little throttle and then got the pefect four wheel limit of grip through the corner. A rarity in Florida for sure! After the testicles descended back to normal I continued to the dinner with a big grin.... Good times in the 348. BT
Hey, my 348 came from the same place! Great stuff isn't it? bullfighter, is your car is blk on tan...
Bullfighter's is from Steve at sport auto too. You will not be disappointed buying from them. They are a class act dealership! And you purchased a hell of a car. Did you buy the gtb?
Chris, that was great post! I did the same driving my car this weekend. You just can't get to turn back and go home! Did highways and winding inner roads. All bozos with funny looking "fast and furious" type crap cars rev their engines and want a taste of defeat... but I never give them the satisfaction. Just installed the silver pedal set. I get out of the car once home, and stare at the pedal set!! Who stares at pedals?!?! What an amazing piece of art to own!!
I have owned over 40 cars, including a 65 vette roadster, Lancia, Triumph TR3 (still have), BMW, 67 Camaro, several Fiats, etc. NOTHING COMPARES WITH OWNING/DRIVING A FERRARI! The combination of the sound (I don't even know how to work the radio) the performance (I backed off at 140 mph) the exclusivity (not another one in my area) the clubs (owners are eager to assist other owners) the stability of value (my 94 348 spider will be worth more than the $50K I paid for it forever) all makes the entire ownership experience the best I have ever had with any car. I drive my Ferrari 25 days per month, at least 1000 miles/month. If it is not raining, I drive it hard, to the redline in low gears, EVERY time I am in it. The only downside of ownership is purchasing parts. Prices charged are simply ridiculous ($75 for oil drain plug!!!!) or gouging, such as over $200 dealer quoted for an ignition key??? (I used a Fiat blank, and bought 3 for 12 bucks, and threw the original folding key in a drawer) The internet is a great forum to discuss solutions to common problems and assist other enthusiasts to make their experience the best possible! This is my first post, I enjoy reading the comments, especially those that help me to fix a problem, find a part, etc.
Great post! The Ferrari's are all about driving. I had my 348 out on the track at the Autobahn in IL yesterday. Beautiful day. Lots of fast lapping. Nary a complaint from my car. As far as service, it's to maintain your car running perfectly so you can drive with confidence.
Yes, I bought it from Sport Auto last December. They had it into January for servicing. No problems since then, so I'm sure you got a good 348 if you bought from them.
I too love driving my F355 with no destination!! . There are a series of on ramps and off ramps that just really show off the cars handling. I will be getting new tires this week, I am sure the ride will only get better!! I bought the car with a few codes. A little elbow grease, time and patience and I have been code free since!! The car just shines in the SoCal sunsets. I really enjoy it .
It sure is young man.........it sure is. I hop out of mine with a massive grin on my face. The 348 is sooooooo much fun. I will never get bored with it I think.
Chris, outstanding post! Totally agree. We need to start focusing some of these threads on the positive side of ownership.
