out of curiousity, the photo that shows the interior looks to have cloth inserta in a cream color. is this material cloth,, if so, does it have the right "terry-cloth" texture?
dan, that was the main reason i posted, is your car is the only car i have seen in this color. i thought you would find it interesting. however, original color cars are so rare.
wspeer, In the first photo, the bumpers look somewhat asymmetrical. Do you think this variation is from the original manufacture or was this car hit a some point? I'm not picking on Ferrari, as I remember a photo of a 300SL from a Hemmings that was done by a Pebble Beach restorer and the front bumpers were crooked too.
In the late 70's we serviced a dark green met (Pino Verde?) 246GTS in Seattle, it was quite handsome. Regrettably the owner had it resprayed Giallo Fly, the paintshop did not strip the old paint off and the green "tinted" the yellow slightly...it looked awfull! Said car is now on it's third (???) owner, an F-chatter, and has been painted yet again. Off-topic, we did a Euro delivery on a Pino Verde Met BB512i, no Boxer matt black, Crema interior as I recall. It was stunning.
Thanks for posting! I sort of vaguely remember seeing one or two others in that color back in the 70s, but I'm not sure.
Are the front marker lights different to anyone else? I think I see the inboard edge being vertical and the outboard edge being slanted. I've seen variations of bumper alignment, both in the photo are within reason and the slight upward angle is correct. Beach chairs?
2nd stage of the 60 Anni German Relay from Weimar to Berlin via Dresden. Yellow QM belongs to official Dealer Eberlein since ages. His branch is responsible in Germany for the Facotry's "Classiche" Program. Dino belongs to the "Dino-Referent" of Ferrari Club Germany.
i agree they don't look like the "standard" trapazoidal shape that i have seen before, could this just be an agle of camera issue or has someone seen this style before?
Thanks for the info. I'd like to ship my Dino over for a couple of events like that. By the way, in the first photo, any idea who the guy in black is with the gray hair and the GROOVY boots or pants that have the shiny buttons running down the back??? I need to get some boots or pants like those . . . . Mark
Mark, All kidding aside, his Swiss hairdo DOES look a lot like yours. At first I thought it WAS you! Scott
To match that Alfred Einstein hair do! Chuckle... Great to have you along on this Saturday's run through the Cascade Mountains, weather should be sunny and a pleasant 78 degrees.
On a more bizarre note, several years ago, we were at Laguna Seca and someone came up to me and asked me where my brother was. I asked him "which brother," and he replied Greg. I then figured out that he was talking about my "dear brother," Greg Whitten (whose hair sort of looks like the guy's in the photo). I told him that he was in the paddock drinking a scotch and soda before getting ready to take out his Alfa again. They guy stared at me for a minute and then said "really?" I said no, I was only joking, and that he was really in Pete Lovely's or Don Orrosco's transporter "relaxing" with his girlfriend (Greg's, not Pete's or Don's girlfriend - not that any of them had a girlfriend at the time). Then, about 4 years ago, I was walking around the paddock at SIR (Seattle International Raceway) with a friend of mine during the Historic/Vintage Races and another guy came up to me and asked me the same question. I told him that the last time I saw Greg he was waiting in line to use an outhouse near Turn 9, and that he was standing in line behind Peter Giddings (who was waiting for Phil Hill) to finish up. Only the part about Peter Giddings being near the outhouse (not actually standing in line), while Phill Hill was using the outhouse, was true. Mark (at least I HAVE HAIR)
+1 It's because it's period correct, along with the car. Try this a F12 or 458 - I'm certain the results would be much different.
If I decide to paint it, then it will go an original color, either the noccia metallico or this green!
I think if you go through the process, the noccia Metallico is just as rare, that your Dino would look great in it !
