My GT4 was painted in 1976 or so, changed from dark green to what I believe is Rosso Dino. The mystery is now matching the paint for some touch up. My memory is that when we were painting the car we could not get any exact Ferrari Red formula. The paint supplier's story was that the GM Corvette color "Mille Miglia Red" was a copy of a Ferrari red color. It does look very much like Rosso Dino. The photo is in the shade but it seems real close. Has anybody else ever heard that? I'm getting #10674 ready to sell and would like to be able to describe the color correctly when people ask "what color is that?" Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mike, Not exactly the same, but a similar story: I painted my TR4A in 1985 and wanted it "Ferrari Red." Both body shop and paint rep said that they didn't have an exact code but that "Corvette Red" was the same. If the weather is good this weekend, I'll park it next to my Rosso Corsa Spider and send you a picture.
Can't help with the color (except it's the ubiquitous "resale red") but that antenna looks like it could support a HAM radio. It appears to be twice the size of mine.
Can you post a picture in direct sunlight? I've seen a Rosso Dino GT4, and it was a much more "orangey" hue than yours...
That's my plan, we are working on some trim and paint details over the weekend, the 1st sunny day next week I will shoot a couple of daylight pics.
An homage to it's era, the car has a hidden cb radio (all controls in the mic) the antenna is a combo radio/cb unit. I think you could stand the car on it
