Great car but too similar looking to the "regular" 599. It reminds me of the SL65 Black Series. Leaps and bounds ahead of the base car but overpriced for being so similar. Even at $200k they are having trouble selling them. A bunch for sale all over. I could see paying maybe $350OTD for a GTO. Not a penny more.

 

I am a pessimist when it comes to selling cars, but I believe this car HAS to sell for high 400s, right? Is the market worse than that?

 

This car is 10 mins from me. I didn't know there were so many GTOs in northern california.

 

Putting $500,000 dollars on the public hi-ways is probably why you have not seen many around. I know the Ca freeways: they are loaded full of non issured driving, non speaking english, construction workers, landscapers....etc....etc...

many GTO owners may keep to the back roads and track or in thier heated and cooled garages

 

This is the same one that was on eBay in October and November through Matter Asset Management and The Collection in Pompano Beach, Florida. In October, the starting bid was $600K.

They want $599,995 on their web site. Almost $200k over msrp? Ouch.

 

Interesting comment, however when you see a GTO next to a 599 HGTE for example the differences are not so subtle....

 

Ouch indeed and unlike the other GTO's on auction, this one has 1300 miles, I believe the highest mileage GTO offered.

 

The current going rate for very low mile cars is $50K over sticker

 

Dan360's Bianco Fuji GTO was for sale in Florida with around 1,500 miles but it was priced around a $100k over MSRP. It is sold but of course I dont know how much it sold for. That dealership also had one with with 282 miles that is also sold. Both have been sold for many months though.

 

How do you determine that? The one for $200k over is the only one for sale in the U.S. that I know of.

 

wait for the specs of the "new" 599 in two months in geneva and then we will be able to speak about the "value" of the GTO, by the way there is already 20 GTO for sale in Europe, including few at the "normal" price (from 280 to 325 K€), same for Enzos (due to the possibility to get similar car, a GTO, for half the cost), so wait for Geneva car show and we will see what is the price for a GTO.
And you can also add that aventador is available with few months delivery schedule now, so Ferraris are no more rare (have a look on the number of 360s, 430s, 430 scuderias, 458 available in Europe)!

 

That is not the case. I am aware of one that is asking 30k over MSRP, 1000 miles. A friend of mine is looking at it this weekend.

 

I know of another one in the San Francisco Bay area for sale, as I just took a look at it last week... Listed at $525K, but I heard a figure that they would accept for it that was considerably less.....

Not a fair statement. What about the Scuderia versus a regular 430? CS versus a 360?

The SL65 is nowhere similar to the base car. It's got plenty of muscle whereas the base car is kinda "soft".

 

Nice. I haven't looked very hard so I would imagine there are some out there. I "casually" keep an eye out.

i've learned something, regarding internet discussions about cars for sale/sold: i don't believe any of it, unless proper proof is presented.

Not trying to be offensive to anyone. But i remember several moons ago when i was looking for a second GTO ... all kinds of stories about cars being "available". Turns out, only ONE out of perhaps a dozen was really true. FALSE internet tales of cars available, or changing hands at such-n-such a price are abundant.

I could jump on this thread and say "3 or 4 GTO's recently changed hands in central Texas for $200K over sticker". How would anyone know if it was true? Maybe i'm not lying, i just heard it 3rd or 4th hand. Or, maybe I'm lying? Who knows?

Or maybe, i'm interested in a certain car (Ferrari in general, maybe, or GTO specifically). So i'll start spreading stories of how they're selling for $100K below sticker, in an attempt to slightly "influence" the perception of market price.

Bottom line : as far as i'm concerned, without proper proof it just ain't true. I've learned this the hard way ... at my own expense.
