I found another great video of a 458 vs. MP4-12C. That McLaren is some car. Here's the link. http://www.characterink.com/2012/03/25/troll/

Can't say I've ever seen someone arguing that paying more for something is better. Elsewhere in the world... The 458 may hold it's value better in the US, but the 12C blows its doors off no matter where you live
Who said anything about anything else? There must be something in A/C units that makes Ferrari owners so defensive. Always defending their car from people who aren't attacking it.
Not defensive at all LOL this is entertaining. "Blowing doors off" can apply to a wide range of attributes - not just speed. All that was implied by the posts/vids was that it is faster in a straight line - in that case, sure it wins.
How many times are Mac guys gonna come on FChat and post a video of an MP4 beating a 458 in an acceleration contest? Is it surprising that they get the reactions they do? Not attacking the 458? Then what point are these videos repeatedly trying to make? Are they intended to make a 458 owner's day? What kind of victory is it anyway? McLaren resorted to using forced induction to build the quicker accelerating car. They didn't beat Ferrari at their own game. In most racing, if you run forced induction your car is saddled with more weight or restricted by some other measure to even the playing field. If I were a Mac owner, I'd be a little more humble when bragging about my car's abilities. Nitrous oxide (another form of forced induction) is commonly referred to as a 'cheater system'. What's that tell you.
The "cheater" system is not a cheater system--it's a response to where government standards are requiring car mannufacters to go--ie, reduce carbon foot print. Carbon footprint (source: Autocar) - McLaren MP4-12C I don't think anybody is saying 458 is inferior wit it's n/a engine.
+1 . It seems like they are constantly justifying their purchase by some measure. Forced induction sound and Lotus Evora looking front end killed it for me. I genuinely tried to like the car. At the current prices it is an amazing car no question.
especially when in this example you are comparing a new mclaren price with over 20K miles examples of 458's
So this government standards don't apply to Ferrari italia and Porsche new Gt3 , both NA motors making good power?
Mac owners don't come on here bragging about the MP4's carbon footprint, they post race videos. The intention is clear. If McLaren really wanted to beat Ferrari, they should have done it using a similar platform - just like in F1 - that would have proved a point. Their next car could have explored other options like turbocharging or kers. Unfortunately, high powered NA engines are becoming fewer-and-far-between due to new regulations, but they're not dead yet.
The MP4-LMNOP is about as exhilarating as calculus. That fact is reflected in resale values. I'll pass.
OK, so do you mind if I go share this post with the F40 forum? I think maybe they've been left in the dark and aren't aware they are dumping all that money into restoring 'cheater systems.'
Hilarious. I don't even know what to say. I think it's bull**** that Ferrari is using a V8 personally. If they really wanted to beat Lamborghini they'd use a V10. Err nevermind, what I meant to say was that if they really wanted to beat Porsche they'd use a flat 6. Errrr, no, that's not right either. If Ferrari really wanted to... Since when the hell does Ferrari dictate the industry engine standard? No one gives a **** what any competitor is using. They use what they think is best. Do you think there is some gentlemen's agreement or something? Do you think they have some unwritten code of engine design honor? Just too funny...
