Well I'm very exicited, I just picked up my "new" '89 Mondial-t coupe and I couldn't be more pleased. It's in beautiful condition, very well cared for and is everything I thought she would be. I am not a stranger to Italian cars but this is my first Fcar. I have owned many Fiats and presently own a '91 Alfa Romeo 164L (daily driver) and a '72 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV (beautiful car and outstanding driver). I've learned over the years to do the maintenance and drive them. So you will all be happy to know that this Ferrari will not be a garage queen. I can drive this car all year round where I live and I plan to do just that.
Since I am new to Fcars I'm sure I will have plenty of questions but I'll try to do thorough searches first so as not to bug you guys too much.
    Here she is.

    Ciao for now,

    Steve

Thanks much for all the great comments. It drives like a dream and the power steering and 3-way adjustable suspension really kicks up the fun factor to another level. I may powerchip it and add hyperflow cats but that's about it. It will be stock from there.

The car phone really is pretty neat even though at first I thought "who cares". My daughter replaced the chip and downloaded all info from my previous phone so the one you see is now my personal cell phone. When I put it in its holder and run the car it charges automatically and the hand set is really nice for talking although I try to keep phone use while driving to a minimum.

Yes it was a California car for the past 17 years but now she'll be a high altitude honey (but no snow) with no rust or grunge anywhere. And the 17" 348 wheels I think add alot to the look of the car. They kind of give it a little more modern updated appearance, which I think is good since this year Mondial was a change in mechanical layout from all previous Mondials, so these wheels seem to set it off a bit IMO. OK gotta go drive it now.

the difference a set of 348 rims makes is almost shocking
Liking the vintage phone - a proper handset.

    Beau,

Thanks much and I agree with you about the wheels. I like the stock wheels but these 348s on this car really make a dramatic difference.

IMHO The Mondial-t Coupe is one of the very best come-togethers of design that Ferrari has ever done - and how nice that they're relatively practically priced!

Usually living with a Ferrari means living with one or more built-in annoyances: seating position, ingress/egress, odd seats, awkward controls, funny mechanical quirks, etc. By the time Ferrari had massaged the many early Mondials into the t, it was perfect. The only residual irritants - the killer safety belts and armwrestling convertible top - pertained to the Cabriolet. The Coupe was a bullseye.

The only tweak I did with mine: I found the front seats were a bit pinching because of their narrowness. Women may notice this even more because of their wider pelvic bones. Solution: Take the car to a good auto upholstery shop and have them build up the center cushion to a comfortable level. As the Coupe has plenty of headroom, raising you up a little won't be a problem.

Also: Usually one fears to park Ferraris in lots where they might get door-dinged. Unlike most other Ferraris, the Mondial-t has a "beltline" which is perfectly suited for a strip of black protective molding from the front to the rear wheelwell. You can get rolls of this stuff inexpensively at auto-supply stores - I think I used 1/2"-wide - and carefully cut/apply it yourself. The black "belt" enhances the car's horizontal lines and makes lot-parking carefree.

You are going to have a completely delightful experience with this car.

I would love to see some pictures of your GTV. Would you mind posting them? Where do you have it serviced in Colorado?

    Rachane,

Both suggestions are good ones that I hadn't really thought about. The seats fit me fine but you're right it is a little tight for women. And door dings don't even get me started on those.

    Sherpa23,

I'll post some pix of my GTV soon. It's a sweetheart and I love driving it.

Excuse me . . . . . . Being a woman driving and being a passenger, I find the front seats of our T Coupe to be absolutely perfect and not narrow at all (I'm 5'). I guess it would be tight for a size "large" woman. As a matter of fact, for me the seats in the Ferrari are far better than the seats in our SLK 350.

I think I've heard your name mentioned in Alfa circles. You build race Alfas correct? Really nice ones I understand.

Actually Carol my wife doesn't have any complaints about the seats so I stand corrected.
