I have been watching the F12 market for some time now, looking to get into a CPO, low mileage, one owner F12 now that the 812 is hitting the showrooms.

I have seen a variety of cars available, in a wide range of prices. Years 2013 up to 2017.

In the last year, I have noted that some of my more favorite color/options combinations have actually been on older MY F12's, such as 14's and 13's.

Other than the conventional wisdom of "newer is better", are there any specific reasons why it may be good to AVOID the 13 and 14 model years of F12? I haven't found much on specific "achilles heels" of the F12 other than bubbling paint near the mesh vents.

    Any and all input appreciated.

    Regards,
    Pete

I was in your shoes for the last few months - just purchased a MY15 - feedback from dealers is there are no differences between model years, but the manufacturing process improves over time (e.g. likely better fitment and lower potential for future issues with later cars). YMMV.

I'm sorry but better fitment? Future issues? Pure speculation. Just as likely to have issues when manufacturing processes and suppliers change IMO unless there is a known issue. What doesn't fit on a 2013 or 2014?

As always, best advice is to get the car that is the spec you would have selected yourself and the condition you demand. Mileage is dependent on use which you should be doing enough of to actually enjoy the car but, as a minimum, keep in good running order. Existing warrantee/CPO is a plus which all model year F12s could still be under extended full warrantee. Model year is irrelevant especially in the coming years. You will pay more for a better car. Best.

I have a December 2015 F12 and it comes with the updated firmware on the computer. I believe this is superior to the original firmware that shipped in 2013, 2014 early 2015. The newer one is the same as the 488, the older one the 458.

2015 cars onwards have a newer infotainment software and I believe have gearbox software changes that result in smoother low speed up/downshifts.
