Well....... As the "spirit of incompetency" overwhelms the United States you suddenly realize how hard it is to have ANYTHING done CORRECTLY.

Below you will see the NASTIEST set of seats known to mankind. I ordered leather from the UK which cost me a ton, then I paid these hillbillies an absolute premium to DESTROY the good leather.

I was upset to say the least.....

Here is the way these seats were sent back!!!!! Later in this thread you will see what happened after I sent them to an ARTIST!

I really don't know what to say other than that I am completely fed up with all of the lazys that share our air. I have a good theory about our economic status and it is "you reap what you sew"

*It absolutely explains why we have maintained a business with really no decline through a very troublesome time. Especially in Aviation.......WE CARE and I accept nothing but the best from my vendors and employees, they slack, they're done....Don't care if they sink, I don't care if they miss the Tahoe payment...

I think it is simply that we CARE and so many others don't....There WILL always be an economy for a hard, honest worker!!!!! Bottom line, agree or disagree! The Carlton Sheets house flipper, UAW BS mindset is OVER....Work smarter not harder (I guess that's why we burn so many calories as a nation, jeesh)? I'd like to strangle the dude that invented that crap....You don't own a Ferrari without hard work. You won't have a business very long unless your the first man in and the last one out.....

Last I checked this is how America started....

My seats below are an example of how we have turned out!

A friend of mine had a similar experience. He restores Porsche's. The normal upholstery guy he used for the longest was starting to charge a bit much so he started looking for someone else. He found this guy gave him a try. Well to cut to the chase the work your "hillbillies" did looks professional compared to the hack job this moron did. The material was loose to the point it wrinkled, and the pattern was all goofed up. Instead of the stitching meeting at the edge of the foam, or at a corner, it was either over or under where is should have been. The when my buddy asked this guy WTF, the guy was like "what's the big deal it's an old car?" Hahahahaaaaa.

Your right....the laziness is all over the place. Not too many young people want to get their hands dirty doing real work. I truly believe that any of the next generation that is willing to learn a blue collar trade will have all the money and work they can handle.
Your seats above are an abomination to say the least. I hope your new ones turn out 1000 times better.

I feel your pain man...I'd be uset too. I could make straighter lines than that and I can't sew. Your comments ring true that we are no longer a nation of craftsmen...we don't make anything anymore. Go to sears and try and buy a pair of shoes NOT made in China...then look at where most of the other products you buy and where they were made...I'd bet 90% or more is NOT made in the USA. The trend for years has been to farm everything out to get things made cheaper and increase profit margins. Unfortunately many of the jobs are now gone and it's too expensive to start producing quality products. What you had happen is living proof some folks just don't care about what kind of work they do.

I'm afraid quality workmanship is dead for the most part in the US and it's amazing how much money people want to do a crappy job for you. It seems the worse they do...the more they want. I am sorry man...I had a set of seats ruined basically the same way a few years back. When I complained they looked at me like I had no right to expect a quality job. Still had to pay them for the crappy job which adds insult to injury. Just feel lucky they weren't doing your timing belts...

    Well,

This is what happens when you find a savvy soul in this world! I called good ol Daniel at "Ricambi of the promised land"

I knew that one savvy, hard working fella would know another savvy hard working fella...He reccomended that I send my stuff to Fernando at Prestige.

(I should have been savvy enough to know better) Sometimes though we all slip up when surrounded by Cretins and hillbillies!

Check this out...... Now this is stunning.....And you know what, this guy just gained a customer that goes through cars boats and airplanes like toilet paper so he will have plenty-o-work!

WOW. that workmanship doesn't belong in a Fiero-turned-Ferrari nevermind a real one :D Hopefully they had insurance to cover this, or at least acknowledge their poor work and took care of the expense.

    Agreed 100%.
WTF is wrong with people anymore? As a business owner, I have hired on a few of the younger generation, and what a mistake.
Late for work, always wanting to leave early, having to be told step by step how to do everything. They don't have the motivation to take the bull by the balls and get anything done. But as I start this rant, I realize it just isn't the younger generation, they are just taking lessons that they've learned and putting them into practice. Alot of the parents allow this to happen by not MAKING the kids work or be responsible for themselves. I see parents everyday that spoil and take care of every need of their 20+ year old kids. We're raising a whole generation of pu$$ies. The government contributes too- handouts to everybody except the working man, who, BTW has to foot the bill with higher taxes to take care of those who won't work and want to live off this wonderful system we have here in the US. Nobody is held accountable for anything anymore. Everybody expects someone else to "take care" of them. People b!tch about how high the unemployment rate is now, how many of those people actually WANT to work?
Jetfixr is right--- this country is reaping exactly what it has sown.
The American dream used to be having a decent job, having a nice house and car and a couple of kids.
Now it has become sitting on your a$$, going down and collecting your government handout at the first of the month, and blaming how sh!tty your life is on someone else.
Inferior work, laziness and the mind set of " just ok is good enough" has finally caught up with the US.

When you have been in business like me for 25 years you start to appreciate others who similarly are in business a long time. We know how to get things done. My friend started prestige then later sold it to Fernando who used to work for the original owner. IIRC Fernando has been at it for at least 25 years. In the Ferrari world I have seen them come and seen them go. Usually the cream rises to the top and the bottom feeders go away. The real problem is when there is a bottom feeder who stays in the ferrari business but is always reinventing his failed ferrari business with new names and new places laying waste to the ferrari community as he moves from place to place. Those guys are true predators like child molestors.

Those seats are beautiful and thats the way things should be done. Its unfortunate that so many of the younger and Im talking under 30 people seem to have no will to do a good job and be proud of it. Unfortunately this generation or 2 of people have been brought up in an electronics and digital world where all you have to do it play in the house from and early age and never get out to do anything. In my days as kids, the only thing you went in the house for was to get something to eat and drink and then it was out to play sports, build wooden go carts to roll down the hill on or built forts and tree houses. We learned to use tools and to improvize early in life. Many people under 30 nowadays cant even swing a hammer properly. It truly is sad.

Getting back to the seats...wasnt there another thread somewhere in the 355/348 section a couple of years ago that showed anther custom seat maker that made carbon back seats as well. They were awsome seats. Anyway your seats are looking good now jetfixr.

This is the main reason we really try and stick to service work on late model cars. Stray away from that and we become dependant on too many subcontractors and what you just experienced is the norm. The modern American version of execellence is in reality mediocrity.

That kind of thing costs us a lot of money and is just one more reason any business trying to maintain standards has rising prices. It has gotton so bad in subcontractors for the automotive business many shops will not give you the name of their machine shop, upholsterer, plating shop etc because the good few are so busy there is real fear about referring them more work.
