I have disassembled and cleaned up my window motors. The right one works fine. The left on is too slow unlessl I replace the wires from the switch to the motor. If I do, then it works great.

However, its been my experience that wires almost never go bad: Its always the connectors or ends of the wires. Does anyone know if there is a connector midspan in that wire? I can't find one, and I sure would like to. I have a feeling that there is a corroded connection somewhere between the switch and the motor. Anyone know where?

At each door there is a 6 pin connector with all door electricals just inside the door jam.

You might also consider adding a relay or two. Single relay uses door ground rather than going back to the switch for ground. Dual relays get +12V and ground within the door rather than going back to the switch so no current passes through the window switch...it's only function becomes relay control.

Yep, the "two relay" fix WILL do the job. Works great. I can provide the schematic for it. Other schematics didn't seem quite right, so I figured one out myself.

Is this basicly how the ''window accelerators'' work?
As i have the same problem.

I'm in the process of rebuilding mine, here are my findings, I'll post some pic's and videos in the next week. I removed the motors and took them apart, I cleaned all the end bushing out and and lightly sanded (600-1000 grit) the pickups (communicators) so there was better connection to the brushes. After re-assembling and re-greasing the motors I ran them over for a few minutes back and forth to set/wear in the pick-ups brushes. The motors preformed much beter and produced much more torque. I sprayed down and cleaned out the nylon pulleys to free them up. After I put the window back together and readjusting the cables on both tennsion and alignment the speed up and down improved to about 3-4 seconds.

I just took them apart again because I'm replacing the nylon pulleys with new ones which have ball bearing instead of the stock bushing type. I think this will make the system much more reliable. I may also replace the cable.

I think the problems with the window system is in several areas:
    - Dry'd grease in gearbox worm gear assembly
    - nylon pulleys not running in a bearing.
    - cable stretching causing the system to come out of adjustment.
    - burned communicators (pick-ups) causing reduced motor torque.
    - Kinked/frayed cables.
    - cable missaligned on drive pulley.
    - body grounding/connections

    I'll keep you posted...

I don't understand where this connector is. Is it inside the door panel? Or is it right next to the driver's feet?

This is the relay fix - one of the drawings in my 308 package. The way it works is - window switches now only energize the up OR down relay. Switching only coil current, the window switches will last forever.

It requires bringing a fused +12V wire into the door. Use fuses 8 and 9 in the left block which is dedicated to the window motor. I changed from fuses to resettable circuit breakers. In addition I added a lower limit switch and my tension pulley is moveable and sprung. Window speed is well under 3 seconds.

I know the relays will work great.
But just fixing the wiring seems to work also. If I can find the 6 way connector, and give it a good bath, all may be good.
