I believe it must be sold or have a pending sale. I called and left a couple of messages the day it was listed and have not been contacted.

Looks nice - though more of a double for Drew's TR that is also for sale - White/White. Nice combo with good maintenance documentation.

I do not know this car personally but maybe someone in the Mid-Atlantic section does.
Have not seen it on any of the outings I ahve done with the boys north of the Mason-Dixon line.

Then you owe it to yourself to talk with Drew who posted above. He has a sister car that he has lived with here on FCHAT. We all know him and it is very likely a good car. No one knows this one from PA - or at least no one has spoken up yet...

Drews car can be seen on the other thread about a $40K TR. Here is the link:

The TR market is in the crapper. The white TR market has always been in the crapper. It is , and always has been the softest resale color.

Can someone please explain the authenticity or lack thereof of the interior color to me? I know there was a Crema option, but both of these look more white. I still don't like the White/Tan combo that much, but that seems to be what most of these white ones came in.

And as for the undesirability of the white TR's, I still maintain that one day people will realize the truly monumental cultural significance of Crockett & Tubbs, and finally the rare Biancos will take their rightful place as THE most desirable Testarossas. So there. Need to find a way to influence the producers to include one as a retro homage in the new movies as well, to get it back on the cultural radar. Just wait. You'll see.

Yup, original color interior. As someone put it to me recently, its really black interior with white seats and door panels. Its amazing. I'm sitting here looking at these pics and was thinking of how awesome it would be to have two wht/wht trs. This Ferrari thing is a sickness and I think I need to find a support group. Everyone here are enablers.

Curtis - thanks for the kind words. This one really seems like a steal and its crazy because I think something has to be wrong for that price.... and of course I realize that's what everyone has to be saying about mine. I'm going to ship my car to VT where I am now for the summer and enjoy it.

Hey all, this is my first post to Ferrari Chat...can't believe I haven't been here before.
This is my third real Ferrari (246 GTS, 308 GTSi, and then this TR - I've had a few Fiat Dinos). My dad always owned a bunch of Ferraris when I was growing up (250, 275, 330, Mondial, some Fiat Dinos and a Stratos) so I was raised to love Ferraris and everything Italian. How fun that I used to practice driving stick when I was 15 in a 275 GTS...the only other white Ferrari my Dad or I have ever owned.

This Testarossa is an excellent DRIVER. I bought it last year after driving by the Mercedes dealership I go to and this was out back...so I took it for a spin, looked at the service records (several times!) and bought it. The car drives so nice, but it does have an issue which is why I'm selling it for what I think is a really fair price. It has a mileage exempt title for what appears to be an obvious mis-title from a few years back. When I bought it, I thought I could get it resolved, but PA is a pain and I gave up trying...if I was in Ohio, I think I could have fixed the title. All service records support the 23.5K miles on it (1000 of which I put on since last year). I just bought a new front spoiler for it and am getting ready to have that installed. Only other things detracting from what is an amazingly fun and reliable car are a few dings and a dented panel near the exhaust on the right side. The driver's seat has the typical wear on the left bolster which I think could be easily fixed. A major service was done in 2009 by Ferrari of Washington which also included a water pump rebuild and new exhaust/cats among other smaller items in what was a $24K bill!

If anyone has called and I didn't call back, I'm sorry. There were a few messages I thought were from brokers/advertisers and I didn't respond. If you do call, please leave a little more information so I know you're serious...I've had a few rather funny messages.

Hoping it will sell soon - but if it doesn't, I'll keep on having fun with it. I think it is priced right for a nice looking, really fun car that has been recently serviced (I wouldn't have bought it if it hadn't been). I usually rotate my third car fairly often, but ended up buying a fourth car last December and I really can only justify having one "extra" car and I plan on keeping my other car for a long time. New to PA a couple years ago, I haven't been involved in Ferrari events in this area. In the 80's/90's I used to be more involved in gatherings in the Columbus, OH area. Getting married and having twins will do that to you I guess!

I was in high school during the Miami Vice era so, of course, I think it's so fun driving around in a white TR!

That, perhaps, may be the best solution! Or, I might be coerced into driving it up for you. I have always wanted to do a midnight bonzai run in a white TR, Jan Hammer blaring out the speakers - though I wouldn't notice as the engine would have all my attention.

Seriously, though, drive it up if you can. I have had mine on several long road trips and these things just eat up the miles. And, the white makes them a little less conspicuous - if that is possible in an 80s icon...

Yeah, I thought about having two white/red when I saw the one in NC go up for auction...

I've thought about it. But I just did the drive in my wife's X5. maybe I'll do the autotrain to DC then drive the rest of the way. Anyone do that?

Here is yet another white Testarossa that just sold at auction for almost $40k ($38.5k) on the East coast. I dig the red interior, and would take a white Testarossa over a red one any day of the week, but with the factor of the unknown with this particular car I would definitely deem this price to be way on the high side of the market. Especially compared to the two cars being discussed on this thread.

That car looks to be in very good condition, it it's mechanically sound I think that is a GREAT deal for somebody. That carbon fiber/clear engine cover is $1,800 or so. The front of the car appears to have clear film protection applied - so it was cared for. The emergency brake handle leather covered surround panel is loose or something, but overall the car looks very good.

It is a good looking car but,............ it has sat for a couple years, no service history, flat spotted tires, AC out of charge, ect. It sounds as if possibly that the owner was in bad health for several years and the car was thus neglected during this time period and that the estate auction cleaned it up well.

Assuming that a major should be completed, plus all the other unknowns, I would say that this car was about $10k too high. At least compared to the two other 'known quantity' Testarossas discussed on this thread, which to me seem to be right on the money for where the market currently sits.

I see your point TOMMOTT77. I look at the cosmetic condition first, and the mechanical condition second. I do all of my own work, so fixing odds and ends isn't that big of a deal. If I was going to depend on a shop to do all the fixing, then yes...that would definately change my priorities a bit.

I'm confused. It sold for $38.5k and you are saying its $10k too high? Do you mean too low because you said my car and the other were, "on the money". I personally think mine is too low and had expected it to sell.

I know this car. Tried to buy it 3-4 years ago prior to the Dentist buying it. It was excellently maintained and in great shape. I was so impressed with it I went in search of another White/Red TR. The owner prior to the dentist owned a detail shop. $38.5 for that car is a bargain all day long. Recharge the air, maybe new tires. It only sat for a year or two. It is not like it was forgotten for a decade...

Drew - I believe your car would be a bargain @ $40-45K as well. It is a shame the market is so bad right now. Get it up to VT and enjoy it! You get it to DC and I will drive it the rest of the way for you - As long as you get me back to Manchester for a flight back. Not sure about Autotrain and exotics - besides I think that is very expensive. Probably cheaper to have it shipped directly to your door by a known good carrier.

I always do almost all of my own 'wrenching' myself. I just lack the knowledge, confidence, and diagnostic equipment to properly work on newer generation technology such as a TR. That is why I have a carbed 308. Most on this board though seem to put a precedence on service history and seem to advise to steer away from the 'unknown quantity' type cars which is the category that this car falls squarely into.

I think both your cars are 'on the money' and the estate auction car sold for 'well above the money'. Your car, and the car that initiated this thread, have an extensive service history and, if I remember correctly, both of you have just completed majors recently on your cars. This compared to an estate auction car of a deceased individual, sold as-is, without any type of PPI, that sounds like it sat for several years, has no service history, and without even being properly going over the car was found to need new tires, and an AC recharge. I would think that any average buyer (somebody who does not perform their own maintenance) would want to go ahead opt to pay for the full major. That, plus the costs of any other potential unforeseen problems, could easily put the all in price for this car at least $10k higher than both of your cars.

I will say though that I have always had a lust for a red Ferrari (interior not exterior) and I have had bad experiences with white interior cars (from doing my own wrenching), still nowhere enough to offset the price difference if I were in the market.

The car sold for $38,500 + 15% buyers premium=44K or so. Knowing that is needs new tires + AC repair + unknown service = too expensive. I actually bid on the car, but knowing what Drew has for sale for $45,000 kept me away unless it was really cheap. I think that's what he meant.

Mileage "exempt" title is not an issue at all....many states are doing this now with any car older than 10/15 years. TMU is bad....Mileage exempt is NOT the same thing at all.
Don't sell yourself short because of that.

I just took mine out yesterday and it runs so well, so much fun to drive. If it doesn't sell soon, I think I'm going to have the seats re-dyed and the rear valence dent repaired...that will take away the majority of deficiencies with it - except for the mileage exempt title. If I end up missing selling it this summer, oh well, maybe I can try to drive it to a Ferrari gathering or other car show later this year. Even by Jan 2011, it will only be two years since a major service so it's still in the service window.

The other white TR I saw on Ebay is beautiful, I'm surprised it didn't sell...both of our cars seem reasonably priced and are SO much more fun than some of the other $$30K-$50K Ferraris out there...but it takes a buyer...

I'm glad I joined FerrariChat...makes me excited again for these cars. Hey, I also have a brand new, never used set of Ferrari Testarossa luggage (tan) that has never been out of its packaging (actually, just 5 of the 6 original pieces...don't ask me what happened to the 6th piece, I have no idea) if anyone is interested. Maybe I need to sign up for a paid subscription and I can advertise it...that probably makes sense.
