    Hello from Germany,

see attached pictures for a brief reminder, that our 308 cars are very low. It seems, that over the years I have forgotten about this. And so last Sunday a little mishap occured......

    Best Regards

My car arrived on the truck with one of the rears looking pretty much exactly like that. Spendy part if you end up buying from the dealer like I did!

did they put your car backwards onto the truck and wrapped the rope around that link arm ? Because it's very tempting to do that if someone lacks any sense for those things.
I think it's not designed to bear the weight of our cars on a steep ramp.
BTW; I found a good used part for - still expensive - EUR 100,-- ( ~ $ 135,-- ). From the weight and how the fracture looks like, I assume it's made of some magnesium alloy. Or is it just a plain aluminium casting ? Does anyone know this for sure ?

    Best Regards from Germany

I don't know what happened. The seller said it wasn't broken when it went on the truck but I couldn't prove it and there was bigger stuff to worry about at the time.

I was told when I bought mine that it was some sort of magnesium alloy. Don't know for sure!?

I broke one in an off track excursion once. "Agricultural work" my mechanic called it. I'm still not sure if it broke under braking and that's why I spun, or if my spin was due to a lack of talent and the linkage broke in the gravel. All I know for sure is that I was braking for a very low speed corner when I spun suddenly and violently. I prepared to hit a retaining wall but fortunately did not. Had to drive home on flat-spotted tires.

if its aluminum and not magnesium, i would bug the local aircraft repair guys.

we weld aluminum on a daily basis at work.

there is no reason why that cannot be properly and safely welded, if it is in fact aluminum. if its magnesium... its done for.

Reaper- Magnesium does make a lovely fire if you heat it, does it not? In aircraft crash landings, the main source of fire is the magnesium wheels or landing gear struts. Like a match and the runway is the striker.
