I took the car to get the front spoiler re-sprayed. I was out in the garage today and noticed one small "dot" of antifreeze on the garage floor. It was located right about where the inside front of the rear passenger side tire is. The "dot" was about the size of a pencil eraser.

I last drove the car on Sunday for about 50 miles with no problems. I do sometimes think I smell antifreeze under the hood since the cold weather has showed up.

Like I said, it is a very very small drop. Is there anything in this area that could just "burp" a small amount of antifreeze. Does not seem to be very much for a serious issue.

    Any thoughts?

That sounds right about where the overflow tube would spill a drop. I had a couple of drops come out of mine in the same spot last time I did a flush & fill.

I have not done a flush and fill but I did have it idleing for a long time in that spot while I adjusted the idle on Saturday. Maybe that would expain the overflow?

I have never seen it get hot. Do they usually do this even if they do not overheat? Thanks

If it's just one drop probably nothing to worry about; just keep an eye on it and see if it keeps doing it. You may also want to double check the hose clamps since you mentioned you think you are smelling antifreeze; in my mind, that would be more than a drop.

Check the hose clamps in the engine bay; one might have been marginally tightened and the cold weather has contracted a hose very slightly. Look for any white residue near the clamp areas which could be a sign of some antifreeze slipping out when the system is under pressure/engine warmed up.

Thanks a bunch. I sure wish the car was here. Waiting a week to check it out is gonna drive me nuts....visions of new radiators and $$$$$$$$$$$$$ dancing in my head...lol!!!

Looking at the floor where the spot was, it looks like it would be from something located near the firewall, passenger side. Maybe just on the other side of the filler cap.

Hopefully just a burp or an easy hose clamp issue. I dont know how I even noticed the spot, it was literally a perfect "raindrop" the size of an eraser head.

I need to stop looking down at that damn floor.

    Thanks again 3forty8!!!!!!!!!!1

That is exactly where it is. I could not have described it better myself. Thank you....that eases my mind.

I will probably replace the radiator cap when I get the car back just because it is 21 years old.

    Thanks again.
