Every glass 308 I have ever seen had body colored grills. I believe some GTS's from about 79 on had the black grills. The 208 turbos from Italy appear to all have black grills. I have never seen a definative response...but who knows...maybe it depended on who was painting grills that week?

I believe you're talking about the grills right behind the pop-up headlights? If so, the grills on the European models were left black. The North American versions had the option to have the grills painted the same hue as the car.

    Steve,

I can't say for sure, but I recall reading it some where. I'll try to dig deeper into my literature. However, if you saw both options in your manuals, it would be safe to conclude that either matte black or body coloured louvres would be correct.

Judging from some early pics that I found in a book by Antoine Prunet, the Euro louvres appear to be body colour.

    Cheers!

All early '76- '79 North American carb cars are body colored.......

But it was pretty common for these owners to throw a rear roof spoiler on and paint the front fender louvers "bad taste black" in an attempt to update the cars to match the injected ones.

All Factory photos I've seen prior to 1980 or so were body colored.

"Where's my can of Krylon???? How much to you want for that car, Steve????

    Is it red/black or red/tan?

They went black with the 308QV, and added front hood louver........

And once you go black, you'll never go back! LOL!
