gone away but any that are left have to have EPA clearance as a Toxic waste site... (enough lead for ya)
Hi guy's,we use'd to have these wartburg thing's in the uk hard top only 2 stroke 3cylinder beasts,i drove one and the thing that hits you is the dont go round corners at all plus when you throttle off theres no engine brake at all, http://www.kolumbus.fi/ekaurane/emppucar.htm They've all rotted away in the english weather-good.
I'm not aware of two strokes currently being produced, but I think some Tatra's (from Tsjechaslowakija) had two stroke V8's
First thing that sprang to mind was Cushman (what I learned to steer around on when I was a puppy), but it looks like they're all either electric or 4-stroke.
Besides Trabant, there was a prototype called the Pininfarina Ethos IIRC ... all I remember is that it was green, and had a 2 stroke engine. Never made it in production though. Problem is emissions. Honda designed a bike, called the EXP2 for the Paris-Dakar a few years ago with emissions control in mind. Even in racing, they did not bother any longer because of ridiculous costs. Boats is the place to look now for modern 2 strokes. Direct injection did wonders...it's coming in the snowmobile world too. 2 strokes foreva'!
