Will drive one again this weekend in an outing to the Pebble Beach Concours, where I hope to get a look at a real F12berlinetta. Hopefully pics.

Nothing against the Mac i was at the cafe a 458 parked then few minutes later a Mac parked next to it and I had the time to compare as i was thinking buying one of them. I loved the Mac the F1 it was my dream car but not the 12c. The 485 screams life to me and it's so beatifulf.

But who knows I could walk decide to go inside the a showroom to have a close look at the Mac and ends buying one.

It's all good cars are lovely even we own a lada Niva lol and i love driving it.

Hate to say it, but in black, the Mac looks way more badass than the 458 - nice job. I don't feel the same in other colors though. Enjoy it!

It must be a great car. Personally, I struggle to have faith in a company that made wild claims about setting new standards of customer service and then lets new owners drive cars out of the showroom with the satnav not working on a promise to "fix it later".

Yeah... it has all the trappings of a start up, and there are mechanical issues as well. But they will get better at it. And the free HP upgrade is something that Ferrari might copy.

    Competition is good.

That's a tantalizing thought, I wonder if Ferrari are indeed factoring a performance upgrade ( more horsepower ) soon and well before the 458 Scud or replacement model comes out, something to carry us over, and free??

I doubt it. It's easy for Mac because they just alter the boost.

I often question HP figures anyway. I see these Japanese econo boxes with massive turbos saying they have 600 HP and I wonder --- if that much HP is so good, why doesn't everyone do it? There's HP and then there's the way the HP is delivered.

There's always a trade off. It may be in reliability or fuel consumption or driveability but it's rare that you get something for nothing.

One thing is still true: There's no substitution for cubic inches.

You mean like a small displacement (2.9L) turbocharged engine putting out almost 500 HP? Yeah those silly Japanese!

Somehow I don't think the motor of an F40 was standard in a Fiat econobox and couple of turbos just bolted on. :)

Does anyone else feel like these MP4-12C threads are planted by McClaren personnel or those with an interest in pushing the product?

Personally I feel like the 458 is a much better car and we have had this debate before only to be re-hashed as the McClaren loses relevance.

Just because some people like something that you don't that means that they have an agenda?

It's a different type of car. Some people like Corvettes, others like Vipers, some like Porsches and others GTR's.

Being the "best" is all relative. For me, the ideal Ferrari would be a heavily modded, fire-spitting, un-muffled F40 that wakes up the neighbors and scares women and small children.

Some guys prefer the FF. Each car is built for a specific audience. I like turbocharged cars because it makes it much easier for the owner to add more power later if he or she feels so inclined. It's not so easy to add another 100-200 HP to a 458. But for some, they prefer cars the way they come from the factory.

    Different strokes for different folks.

No, not at all. Tony is a good friend of mine and he's wanted to live his Mac dream since they created the F1. Last week he bought that dream. Good for him.

And, I know he loves Ferrari too. Someday, he may sell the Mac and buy another F car. Maybe he'll buy the replacement to the 12c. I don't know but it's exactly what I would do if I had the urge and money.

People will not be swayed by a few posters in a forum.

And, unlike a certain Mac forum that poo-poo's F car owners, everyone should be welcome to discuss their preferences here.

If you like Ferrari's 2 seat sports cars, you should be able to appreciate all supercars no matter who made them or what country they came from. You may not want to buy them, but you can appreciate them and their owners.

BTW: I agree with Tony that the Mac F1 will probably go down as one of the few all time classic cars ever made in the modern era.

No. I don't suspect these threads are "plants". Like most of us here, I know what I like and what I will buy. Opinions on a car forum will never change that.

On a different note, I enjoy hearing the opinions of Ferrari owners (past, present, and future) as they relate to other cars.

I hope I don't come across as sounding like an embedded McLaren sales agent because I'm not ,but personally I think it's great that McLaren, boasting a rich pedigree in F1 can build supercars such as the F1 and 12C. I had the opportunity to drive one, admire it and respect it's build quality.

The following day I drove my 458 and remembered thinking to myself what an excitment machine the Italia is, and the McLaren is scintaillating as well, in a different way, so I can empathise with how the Mac owners feel when they drive their cars, it's very much an emotional experience.

Like most of us the bond and fascination of a McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche or Lambo to name a few, starts early in life so for sure if it's the MP4 or 458 that you end up acquiring and lust for that's awesome and we have a terrific forum to share those views.

I have to agree with Bob, my initial foray to the Mac forum was like venturing into the dark side, but you scratch the surface there and you quickly understand that the folks are like us but driving a different car. Same creed, same passions, watching F1 on telly, and hanging out for the next upgrade.

The supercar future is very exciting.

No. And I don't share your conclusion or opinion that the McClaren is losing relevance. Its a fantastic machine and its existence is nothing but a win for performance car lovers (competition improving the breed and having choice being two reasons...even if you don't want the car yourself).

I have some photgraphic proof that the two brands can happily co-exist...me in the CS with a pack of 12C's on Saturday. Great fun and a great group of guys to hang with for the day.

    Very cool garage!

Any plans to lower the Mac a few mm? ......I think it would look excellent with a slight drop.....none the less its a beautiful car.

Brandon, not a bad idea, I will check when it goes in October for the HP ECU Upgrade. I will post some better photos of the McLaren and 430 together.

How do you lower a McLaren? I thought it only sat on the springs when the engine is off. The rest of the time it is running on pnuematics, is it not?

Actually you have illustrated Bob's point quiet well. I don't know if you've ever driven an F40, but it isn't exactly the 'friendliest' car to drive, the power delivery is very peaky and sudden, and the driveability 'suffers'. Personally I think its wonderful thing and a great bit of fun while driving the car, but nevertheless the car 'suffers' for it.

(I was only trying to be funny in my reply - Most of what I say is meant in jest) :D

I know exactly what you mean. Haven't driven an F40, but have driven small, turbocharged engines and yes, at low RPM's the driving sucks. Get caught in a higher gear and try to give it full throttle and it falls on it's face. But keep it in its power-band and WOO HOO! :D

On the street, I would much rather have a large-displacement engine with lots of low-end torque. I've driven both and having neck-snapping throttle response and torque at low RPM's is much more enjoyable for me.

But I would still give up certain body parts to have an F40. ;)
