Bruce, seems to be $100k to me: http://www.autobaron.com/listing.php?what=model&make=Ferrari&Make_Id=154&ModelId=154031&Model_Name=512TR
The heck with that...maybe I'll just take that 550 off your hands! It is my favorite 550...does it come with a Wellington warranty? ;-)
BRUCE, I THINK PRICE FOR 512TRS IS STILL PRETTY SOLIDLY IN THE 90S. I KNOW LAMBORGHINI DALLAS HAD A YELLOW 512TR RECENTLY BUT IT APPEARS TO BE GONE.
WHAT HAS PROMPTED THIS DESIRE TO CHANGE??? PERHAPS AN '06 Z06 VETTE.... 3 YEAR WARRANTY, MAINTENANCE IS SIMPLE (CHECK & CHANGE OIL ONCE IN A WHILE!), SERVICE AT ANY CHEVY DEALER, LOWER INSURANCE, BETTER GAS MILEAGE... ALL THOSE REASONS MAKE A VETTE LOOK QUITE APPEALING!! AS FOR YOU DRIVING WITH ATTITUDE.... WELL, ANDREA DRIVES WITH MORE AGGRESSIVENESS THAN YOU! NO OFFENSE, JUST CALLIN EM AS I SEE EM.
Bruce, sorry to see the 550 is on the block. 512TR is a NICE-E replacement though! Saw a stunning one on eBay a couple of weeks ago. They definitely pop up from time to time.
Have a buddy with a Yellow/Blk F512M. He may be interested in parting with it. Also know of a Blk 512 and may be able to work ya a trade with the 550! Later Bra!
Interesting BB...I haven't even been in the car for a ride yet! Is the 550 too cool and you are looking for sinister?...or was it that ticket you got on our run up to WWOC? Anyway, I love both cars yet if it were me and I had to choose....I would go with a black on black, with pitch black tinted windows 512TR...now THAT's attitude...In fact, it looks a bit like satan on wheels!
Hey everyone, Webster, NY is a suburb of Rochester, NY located here in the snowbelt of Western NY. I live in another suburb of Rochester. I could be wrong, but I have only seen four Ferrari's in the area in the past year, more recently one being a Red TR and a silver 360 spyder. I know of both owners, the one with the 360 personally who lives very close to me. I also know the owners of the '84 red 308 and the '84 black 308 that I have seen. I would hesitate to buy a Ferrari that has been in our area for a while, much less one that frankly Rochester hasn't seen. Granted I am no car expert by any means, but generally exotics come out and play every once and a while and I think I've seen most of the Ferraris and Lambos that have been owned in our area and know of the owners. Obviously the car is there - and this one must have slipped through the cracks and come out when no one was watching (my other friends in the area who happen to be Ferrari lovers haven't heard of a yellow TR in our area) or someone bought it recently and is deciding to sell it.. If you are at all interested I would be happy to go and see the car if allowed by owner - I don't know, but I think I am one of the only members of FChat in the Rochester area. Isaiah
Bruce, You are starting to trade out of cars like I do!! Sean Harris has an immaculate 1992 512TR. He is asking $94,000. I would give him a call since he can also handle the trade. I would also echo the fact that it will be hard to find a good one in the $80's.
I know it's not yellow Bruce, but still... (Ken, you listening?) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6212&item=4560846061&rd=1
BRUCE -- GREAT CHOICE. THE 512TR IS MY DREAM FERRARI. I THINK THAT YOUR TARGET PRICE OF UPPER 80S IS A BIT UNREALISTIC. I'VE BEEN WATCHING THE 512TR MARKET CLOSELY FOR A FEW YEARS AND I THINK YOUR COST FOR A GOOD CAR SHOULD BE RIGHT AROUND 100K. SURE, DEALERS ARE ASKING 110-115, BUT I THINK THEY GO OUT AT ABOUT 100. KEEP IN MIND, IF YOU GO WITH A 1994 MODEL, YOU GET ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND OTHER IMPROVEMENTS, SUCH AS A REVISED STEERING RACK.
