David, I'm just curious, how are the Dali speakers and what amp do you thinks is best to drive them?
Mike, I'm afraid the Dalis belong to the category of stuffed in a closet - haven't used them in 6 or 8 years now. Purchased them new in 1985, originally drove them with a Proton D950 receiver, then an NAD 2200 amp, an Adcom GFA-555ii, followed by a Parasound HCA-2200ii, then briefly with an Innersound ESL-300, and finally my VTL Deluxe 120s. Liked the VTLs the best on them, but they sounded quite nice with pretty much any amp I ever through at them.
What's the opinion, if any, on the new wireless Sonos system? Sonos Wireless HiFi Music Systems Thanks, CW
I know who does the design on the recent Sonos speakers..VERY talented man and does not design garbage.
I've been there, done that. From Dahlquist DQ 10a +subs to Dayton Wright ELS with Threshold amps, Acoustats, Quad 63, Martin Logan Monoliths. Today I design my own speakers: Music and Design
Very interesting and impressive stuff! I use a quite different approach: I have T+A A2D active loudspeakers. Only digital (no analog) input with digital frequency-separating filters and analog power amps all built into the speakers. The active speakers are fed digitally by an Apple TV which is controlled by an iPad. The music is playing from a servers hard disk over the Apple TV to the digital speakers. So I have a completely digital signal path from the source (hard disk) until the frequency-separating filters. Then the signal goes through a D/A converter and then goes to the analog amp and speakers. Markus Image Unavailable, Please Login
So, currently I'm running a few. (full disclosure, I sell audio equipment-but this is what I listen to at home) In the living area, are the Boenicke SLS 2s with a Lumin front end. and in my space, AlkemiaVero speakers with Crayon Monoblocks, and a Total Dac front end. I'm also getting some Soul Sonics speakers shortly which I'm dying to hear...Our bedroom has Albedo HL 2.2 speakers and a Crayon integrated amp and the Crayon CCD-1-a monster dac and a great cd player as well. I'll post some photos shortly. I have several turntables, turntable preamps, and cartridges. Many are vintage, and 3 are new. In the basement, I have 6 headphone stations. I find it's a good survival technique to have music that doesn't always impinge upon others. Oddly, I don't care too much about my car stereo. If I did, I suppose I would look at Milbert amps, which David Berning had a hand in designing, and then I would build my own speakers into the car...but I like to drive, and that's really enough for me.

I love the horns and had a chance to hear them in a sound room several years back. Best sounding you can get (almost real to life)... However when I showed them to the Mrs... There was no way she was going to allow them in our media room. Went with Logans Electromotions.. Saved a lot (actually a nice cars worth), and quite a bit of space as well. Those horns are awesome, and huge.. one day maybe.. Ps. The pic above looks similar to the showroom I saw them in on the east coast (I think it was sun coast audio).. I assume this is not your home, as "No food and Beverage sign" is a little odd, but with my kids, would be needed along with barbed wire and security guards.. If it is your home, you need to do a little cable management, that would not pass my Mrs. requirements of no wires showing.
It is in our home - but I have so many transition pictures and have not ever gone around for 'final' pics ... One could argue it's because nothing ever seems to be final, but better power/cable management is complete and I simply haven't updated pics. I need to.... as for that sign, we had a party that night I think and the sign was compliments of my wife.. Triangle Arts turntable in that room... again bad pic, but I'll work on that soon Image Unavailable, Please Login
