    Hello again fellow "F"-chatters,

My 308GTB has been setting for 2+ years in an effort to get it's much needed maint. done. More recently it's been setting for 2-3 mos with the oil removed and the pans off.

My question is: will I expose my self to any damage to the rear main seal w/out the lubrication. Will the seal leak after all has been replaced.

    Thank you!

    Chris.

If it wasn't leaking before, it shouldn't leak afterwards. The seal will trap enough oil to keep it's self alive.

Of course, if grit or dust got into the seal, then it's a different story. Usually it doesn't, so its probably worth trying.
