Anyone know of any 246's for sale? Hardtop and silver preferred.
here is a blue/tan gts for $135k http://www.rpmvt.com/ForSale3.html#246 i love the color combination of this dino, it is one of my favorites.
Do you think that giving a geographic clue might help ? No-one really knows if you are looking in Japan (RHD) Mexico (LHD) or Egypt (drive in the middle of the road - always....)
The Campys on the Autosport car are repros, the heads are black wrinkle finish, and the carb box looks like a strange color, possiblt matte black?
How about his one.... Interesting dash color.. Pietro http://www.ferrarichat.com/ferrariads/showproduct.php?product=904&sort=1&cat=11&page=1
isn't this the same car that showed up several months back with the then crazy and still now crazy asking price?
To clarify, silver, gt, and usa if that helps narrow...seems hard to locate a silver one...thanks for all the emails....
Silver is absolutely gorgeous. A local gentleman, Bruce, has an original 246GT that he bought at the factory and it still has the original paint. I've been told that the Silver paint composition used during the 60's/70's had oval shaped metal flakes which cast a softer luster than the triangular ones typically found in USA cars of the same period. I intend to repaint the C&F Dino Silver, it is also the original color on the car.
I am interested in finding a Dino (GTS preferred). I'd even pay extra for a car that's won a few awards, since it is difficult to get proper service on a car in a reasonable period of time, at a reasonable price here in Canada. A USA / Euro car (located anywhere) is fine. I will email, fly, research, do headstands, whatever it takes, but I really need a top notch car (due to previously mentioned Canadian related difficulties). Post or email is great! Thank you for your help, all! This is an absolutely amazing site with a lot of very gracious, helpful individuals! Carlo in Canada
What do you want to pay for a straight, original 246 GTS car with a solid engine, strong transmission/2nd gear synchro, and very nice paint?
You asked for more details; What are the particulars? color, options, rebuilt anything? That would help on a price. Red with tan and Daytona seats, no A/C, 1973 Euro version. No rust, no previous accidents, lots of receipts showing clutch replaced, new Konis in front, Alternator bracket upgrade, etc. All work for last 10 years was performed by Claudio at FST in Santa Monica, CA. Engine compression test results yield all cyls at 152 +/- 5%, Tubi exhaust, MSD ignition. $6,000.00USD just spent on all new suspension bushings, new front brake rotors, rebuilding all 4 brake calipers, new hoses which migt be fire prone areas; carb connections, fuel lines and breather hoses. Excellent driver, strong clutch, engine details are very nice and clean, clock even works. No excuses, but the Tubi and MSD will not get you a concourse win which is what you seem to imply is your goal. What is the going rate?
Does the driver's side body line look strange to anyone else? I know the lighting looks diffuse, but it is almost vertical and the body line does show well on the passenger's side. These body lines can easily be sanded down and end up being too soft when bodywork has been done.
It certainly does look as if the preperation could have been a little over zealous on the drivers side, the guy doing mine at the moment said he was going to have to pay particular attention to getting this right on my car.
Happy to pay market rate. Although my original email implies a Concours winning type car, I can easily live with Tubi vs standard exhaust, and typical mods due to poor original set-ups (similar to ignition on Daytona changed out to MSD), etc. Thanks for the replies so far! Carlo
