I a few threads discussing the quality of ArmorCoat vs. 3m's clear bra and it seems that's the best way to go. My only concern is that it's only been out a few years. Can anyone who's had the ArmorCoat for an extended period chime in w/ how their car looks now? Any discoloration?

Well, I don't know what you'd consider an exended period, but given that it wasn't available much over two years ago in my area, I guess my car has had it just about as long as any in the Northwest at around 22 months. With 44K miles on the car, there's no indication at all of discoloration. The coating is definitely doing its job of protecting the paint from chipping. The wheel wells are down to almost bare metal in places from the gravel thrown up by the wheels but there are only a few minor blemishes in the paint where there is amrmorcoat. The front bumper has been patched twice for larger sized divots taken out by an inattentive driver and unyielding conrete pillar in a very tight parking space. Overall, I'm very pleased with it and would recommend it.

Finally, a colour for the 612 which makes the proportions and shapes make sense! Very nice!

I too think the color works well on the 612, and have been very happy with it. It looks best when in full sun, when the metallic bits really make the color pop.

These pics were taken on our recent trip back from Santa Fe in August, specifically, Hwy 375, aka The Extraterrestrial Hwy, in Nevada, just on the north side of Nellis Air Force Base. Pretty quiet little bit of hwy, with a car passing every 10 minutes or so.

This was maybe the fifth such stretch of this hwy we came upon that seemed to just go ferever. I measured distance from one end to the other and this one was just at 25 miles of straight line.

Radar detector would light up every 30 minutes or so, out in the middle of nowhere. I figured we were being painted by either the Air Force Base radar, or maybe some hotshot up in the air was using us for target acquisition practice. So of course, we didn't want to make it too easy for them to get a lock, and felt it our patriotic duty to give them something at least a little difficult to track. We made a few short bursts to somewhere near 150, and cruised for quite a while at over 100. Always kept in mind the fact that it was 100 degrees out, we were 200 miles away from anything, let alone a flatbed, no cell signal for hours, etc, so we never really pushed it too hard.

Oh yeah, and the dead bugs baked onto the armor coated nose did leave some staining that didn't come off as easily as the same came off the paint. Took a bit of polishing and some waxing to get them all off. Maybe the one downside I could see in the coating. But it does taking to polishing well, and comes back great with not too much work.

I would blow waaaay to many motors if there were roads like that around here.

Roads like that give me goosebumps.

I've had the Armour Coat for 1-1/2 years (not that long) with no discoloration. It's doing a great job on the nose of the car. I used to get hundreds of little paint chips on drives, but not anymore.
