Just curious what type of cat lovers are on here. I have a 2 year old Singapura. She's a great cat. Very smart, demands attention and will go anywhere she wants in the house. She jumps up anything and usuallly likes high places to watch over us. She is extremly fast and an excellent hunter. I've seen her catch a few mice with ease. One swipe of her claws and it's in her hand. Her fur is as soft as a chinchilla. My only gripe is I have to cut her nails every 2 months becauase they get so long and sharp she starts to have a hard time walking on carpet.

    I'm attaching a few pics.

I would like to have a black jaguar, but I think it's illegal. Maybe if you own a bunch of land with high walls? Cool cat btw. Mine is a regular american shorthair tabby.

ryans...Beautiful! Nice to see another cat lover here.

We've owned two purebred Russian Blues but they are now departed. Our 3 current cats are all clinic shelter adoptions...two "regular cats", too nice to be called alley cats even though technically that's what they are, and an exotic looking mixed breed female that the vet thinks is 3/4 or 7/8 Oriental shorthair...see pic.

Last Sept I brought a Miniature Pinscher puppy home on a trail basis...she and the cats did not get along, so I had to take her back to the breeder.

We're not set up for a dog and the cats right now but I haven't given up yet.

No they aren't illegal they just can't be tamed regardless of what you do. I wouldn't mind owning a Black Jaguar myself but i know if i do, i could become dinner!. That's why i have a small black regular house cat.

    What about a Panther?.

Panthes are cool, too. I've seen some Florida panthers here (I'm in Orlando) at some of those rescue shelter type places. They bring them out to grocery stores in cages to raise money. It's pretty sad. :(

There's a guy here who owns a local furniture and he's pretty famous here in Colorado Springs and has many stores through out the state but he uses tiger, panther and i believe some monkey cubs in his advertisements. The sad thing is every month they are having a freakin sale even when there isn't nothing going on for that month like New years or something, even in the diry months of the year he has some sale going on.

Pretty good prices but to bad i will never buy from that place. The advertisements on TV get on my nerves because they are on the local channels every 30seconds.

MY GF's aunt is licensed to own exotic cats... REAl exotic... in her back yard in the pens she has 1 mountain lion (cougar) like 4 bobcats, 1 snow leapord, 1 black panther, and some other wierd one... i have pics of them but theyre on 35mm film not digital... ill post pics of the pics. BTW she lives in a normal neihborhood.

all of them were rasied from kittens in the house and once they got to like 50-60lbs she put them in their own pens outside. i was playing with a baby bocat in the spare bedroom and it was like a normal housecat with bigger ears and bigger/sharper claws/teeth... but VERY playful...

i beleive now she got rid of alot of them and only have the cougar, the panther and a bobcat... she also has a monkey, like 7 dogs, and alot of other animals... and her daughter has a wolf, an alligator and a few other exotic animals... they used to travel from school to school doing educational programs with the animals.

these are the onyl opics i took of her cats....

the cougars name is Topanga, a very friendly cat, but plays rough cause when it was a kitten they used to play a game called "catch the kitty" were they would toss her to each other and she would jump in your arms... well now shes like 6 or 7 years old and she still thinks shes a kitten and jumps in your arms. and the panther is not friendly at all... even her aunt is afraid to go in the cage. she does at time but its the only animal she has that she doesnt trust 100% so she feeds it by slipping food under the gate.. all her other cats she can let in her house and they would be fine to walk around, although she doesnt cause she has other animals in the house that wouldnt get along with them...

I just saw my neighbor's cat in the backyard and holy crap your Singapura's eyes are HUGE. Guess that's for hunting / survival, but damn those eyes freak me out.

That black panther looks to be in very closed quarters. Maybe it's just the camera angle. It would be cool to have some cougar cubs(?), but I have no idea where one would find this. Are there even breeders for this or is it all regulated by the gov't? Strict liability comes to mind if one of these somehow gets out and hurts somone so I feel the entire "industry" for wild cats is heavily regulated and not open to joe public. I guess your gf's aunt is allowed to keep them since she uses them for educational purposes, right?

yae shes also a licensed vet. and the black panther had the biggest cage of all them... about 20' x 30' to roam around in.... he was just sittin in the corner near the gate waiting for me to get close enough so he reach me lol... he was stickin his paws under the gate door and rubbin my shoe cause he wanted to "play" with me lol.... honestly he scarred the **** outta me cause i was restin on his pen with my back to it when he was across the other way. in the corner of my eye i seen this black thing jump against the cage, i moved so fast i pulled a back muscle...

and for liability issues if they get out, she cant get in anymore trouble then you or i would if our dogs got out and bite someone... she has 100% permisson fom state, county, town etc... to keep them where they are... theyre in special pens where you have to go in one cage that runs along all the pens before you can get in any of the other pens... sorta like entering a prison or somethign like that....

even if you have the money and knowledge lets say to obtain one i beleive some of them you need to have proof that theyre being used for something constructive besides own personal collection i'ld assume. i wanna go back there and take new pics since i took those in 2003 before i was into photography, but my gf rarely sees her and doesnt just wanna show up to see her animals lol... i say who cares lets go haha...

Not too sure but the Singapura is considered the smallest professional breed. Most females weigh about 4-6 pounds. mine weighs about 7-8 though.

You missed a step. "Small as Beagle" would be like 30 to 40 lbs. Huge for a cat. Thing was pretty big.

Wow, very cool! What kind of laws does the City of Orlando have for being licensed, if any? Is it all controlled by the state? Is it a house cat or do you keep it outside?
