I'm asking if any F owners here used to have a red (any type, be it scuderia or corsa) ferrari, but due to the screaming attention, got a F car with a more discrete colour? I.e. from red exterior to black, or dark grey, albeit Ferraris are never discrete, but not choosing red because it is less 'screaming'?

I ask this because are most of you out there who obviously would have liked the attention at the start, but got tired of it after hooligans chase after your car like kids chasing after a car in Africa? (except they are not young and friendly, but aggressive and rude)

I think most Fcar owners can afford another means of transportation. I dont know that Im going to keep with the Ferrari brand as my next purchase, but if I do, I will probably steer clear of Red. I tend to like blues, but some of the cars (like a 355 or 360 modena) just look right in yellow.

I've had all sorts of colours, and it's not bothered me too much as I don't get to use the Ferrari all that much, but I have to say, I do prefer other than red and yellow most of the time as they do attract more immediate attention from cops and idiots here, silvers, greys and blacks tend to creep up on people a bit more, so you can be past before they realise sometimes, but ultimately, a Ferrari is a Ferrari, whatever colour, so it would never be a deal breaker. If I go somewhere less friendly to a showy sports car, I take the range rover or mercedes, it's less stressful.

That said, certainly in the part of the uk I live, the 'locals' in many areas do have an aggressive socialist attitude and I find it very restrictive - even the range rover got scratched on purpose a few months ago in a relatively nice area for no apparent reason. You will never cure cowardly vandals I guess

My first Ferrari was a red/tan 328 GTS.

    Since then, all non-red.
    - Grigio Titanio 360
    - Nero 430
    - TDF Blue 550
    - Nero Daytona 458

Red is a good color but at Ferrari club events there will be quite a few red ones of the same model type.

Neither one of my Ferrari's are red and never were. I had red and it's not because of the attention you get it regardless. Color is what you want and I know people have changed color. It's not that hard to do but most people will blast someone for doing it.

Not an owner yet, but I'm only looking for cars in black or gray. A bright color would just attract too much unwanted attention IMO.

My 308 is red / crema which I have had for 10 years and I love it.

I recently got a Black / Black 360 spider which I got for a number of reasons.... it is in a great condition, is a low mileage car at a much more reasonable price than all the higher mileage cars in resale red (about 10% less). The black looks great with the black soft top, and it is a mean looking car, and it IS different. Yes, I understand that the black does attract dust, and if there was a silver one available I would have been tempted, but there wasn't.

Different cars look great in different colours. if I ever got a 456 or 612 it certainly would not be red - maybe a silver or dark blue. On the other hand I don't see myself ever owning a yellow Ferrari, period. A testarossa, 348 or 355 has to be red I think.

Three so far, none in red. No intention of buying one in red, at least not Corsa red. Wouldn't mind Fiorano.

Never had a Red one, never would.
All Ferraris I had, were Black or White alternatively, thinking of going vintage now and I'm open to a wilder color on a Daytona or GTC.

Awesome Dino - and that Titanio 360 is fantastic too, both colours suit the cars

I also thought that everyone should own at least one red Ferrari especialy if its your first one. Personally, I keep going back in forth between black and red. My first Fcar was a red 328 , then a blk. Testa Rossa. Followed by a blk. 599 GTB and then a rossa scuderia 430 Scud and now currently a Red 599 GTO. if there is ever another Fcar in my future I'm leaning towards white or yellow.

I don't see what the big deal is about red. I've also never encountered the aggressive people you're talking about... I've had my red 360 for 3 years now and you do get noticed.

People notice good design. I don't think a color change is going to make it "invisible". The tools are going to know what it is regardless of color.

If it bothers someone that much get an M5, M6 or some other "understated" car that nobody cares what it is but has incredible performance.

Silver looks far better than red on 328s, IMHO. Nice find. Concave wheels, too.

Good gawd that is pretty! Love TDF but Pozzi is favorite - period!

In response to the string - my 355 is Giallo and TR is Blanco. I would not shy away from Red but prefer other colors not due to them being muted but just like seeing Ferrari's in something other than Red...

Did I mention I REALLY REALLY like Pozzi and it looks amazing on a 430 coupe.

Changing a color on a Ferrari and thinking it's going to be "discrete", is like changing Jennifer Lopez's dress color and expecting her not to "stand" out.

changing the color does not work. My Grigio Alloy 360 gets noticed daily. The person I purchased the car from mentioned he bought it to drive to work thinking that non-Red would be discreet and he found out its not.

Its a Ferrari and people will notice it, red is irrelevant, they will notice it.

Well I, for one, didn't buy a Ferrari to get attention. Of course, my red 360 Modena does draw attention but it would never draw aggressive and rude hooligans chasing after my car because I live in Italy. The worst I see is some Fiat Panda driver itching to pass me when I happen to be obeying the speed limit or approaching a known police check point. I let them go, he goes home and tells his wife that he outran a Ferrari, and everyone is happy.

People driving a Ferrari in Italy are not considered jerks as they apparently are in these days in America. I grew up there back when success was a virtue but from what I see on the news, being a law abiding successful person is now BAD, BAD, BAD, particularly if you have accumulated a bit of money.

Here in Italy kids, adults, and even the prototypical ancient grandmothers all smile and admire my car. I get a real kick out of seeing some old gal in her 90's look at me and say "FERRARI" as I creep through a small village in first gear making a bit of noise but at a respectful speed. People around here actually behave as if I'm doing them a favor by letting them observe my pretty car. It reminds both them and me that the passion most Italians have for the Ferrari brand isn't dead. I get a similar response when I ride my Ducati, also red.

By the way, I prefer the 360 in yellow, but my wife is a strong fan of red. I took an informal poll of my friends before I made my purchase and 100% of them insisted that I MUST buy a red car. Now that I own it, I'm very glad I got a red one.

Current have rosso corsa and have no plans to ever buy an f car thats not red. I hope to add cars to my collection and im hoping they will all be red(though i like yellow too). Maybe my 3rd or 4th ferrari will be something different (if im fortunate enough to own multiple ferraris simultaneously).
