How many cars went up,and any pictures.
damn... i need to grow, up make money, buy a ferrari and take that trip so i can tell you all about it
Well ppl i'll tell you all about it, Five of us met at my place we had a 328, a GT4, husband & wife matching metallic blue 355 & 360 spiders, my 348 targa, We left my place at 8.15 am sharp and were at Mt Colah Mcdonalds by 9.am. The car park there was a wash with gleaming mostly red Ferraris, Lots of 355, 360, Daytonas, Testarossas, 308 GT4, 328, 308, 330 GT, 348, a Koneig 238, 550 all models from targas, coupes to spiders, all up over 25 Ferraris, plus a Ford 69 mustang, A few Alfas, plus some hotted up jap junk. Lots of small talk till we hit the road. We were travelling well we made the first coffee stop more small talk. Hit the road & then slowed right down at the 2 police cars parked on the other side of the road giving some nice help to a poor sole who forgot the speed limit. We did lose Paul as his 308 GT4 blew a clutch, lost the hubby & wife team about 15 minutes later as they missed a turn off, i think there in Noosa by now . 99% of us arrived in convoy. It's the most amazing thing to be in convoy with so many Ferraris on the road. It was a great day at Catherine Hill pub, nice lunch beautiful day about 19 deg. On the way home 5 of us, 348, 328, 308, 355, testarossa headed home along the freeway. We were all travelling well bewteen 120km & 170 km's until a twin turbo porsche decided it was play time. I wont say whom & what speed certain cars hit but it was warp speed, throw away my licence for good. Can't wait till the Kiama run Andrew
that must of been a good day, shame i missed it,found out to late. anyway hope the 308 GT4 fixed his clutch and the hubby and wife got home that night! so when's the kiama run on,Just want know so i can get a day off work? thanks.

Unless there's been a change in approach, the FCA actively states that it is an owners club and you must OWN a Ferrari to be a member. NSW FCA used to be particularly elitist when Tony File was pres (perhaps it's different since Gerry) and when I suggested that the FCA should encourage people who want to buy to join the club (and hence creating a steady stream of new members and new owners) at the Nationally Rally a few years back I was abused by the drunken scumbags there - Tony G is such a pleasant drunk. Mo forget the club. It will be a total waste of your money. Instead, befriend some rational owners (eg Andrew) and get to know more owners by tagging along. Then you can meet the great people, get the advice you need, buy the right car and not blow your money and get disenchanted with Ferraris because of a band of elitist drunken wankers involved in a social club.
Very True... how many associate members have been invited to join in the past five years (my experience is with NSW not the other states). During Tony's time as president they were actively discouraged and my falling out with them was partly due to the fact that I wanted to promote the club to potential owners and get them involved. Tony wanted to keep the peasants away.
i'm not thinking of joining the club at the moment, but like to go to the cruises and shows.maybe in the near future.
Doesn't one have to be invited to join as an associate? If offered I would join, motivated by an interest to learn as much about Ferraris (and ownership experience/technical knowledge/do's and don'ts etc). Furthermore, I'd be happy to volunteer my time to provide assistance with events etc. I do admit that I may not be eligible even for associate membership because I am a number of years away from buying (or for that matter, seriously searching) for a car. Gotta get qualified first!
Yep, must be 'invited'. But, what you've said is exactly the reason I wanted the club to promote associate membership. Keen people, learning about the cars, helping the club do club stuff, and spreading the good word about the cars, the owners and the club. It was the abuse I copped at the national rally when I raised that was a main part of the reason I quit the club. But hey, I've let complete strangers sit in my car when we've stopped for coffee... and that, *at the time*, was apparently not good FCA NSW etiqette.
Now thats the type of Ferrari owner I like, or ones that let you drive their car for 100km (hint: scud).
Who says you have to be invited? The ones i've seen get in have applied and given valid reasons as to why they want to join for consideration. No one invited them, as far as i know.
Invitation not necessary Anyone can download the application from the website All that is required is an interest in Ferrari and a desire to participate in FCA events. (forget the exact wording) Which, from a cynical point of view, is more than is required form "full" members Come back Tippo, all is forgiven
you might forgive him but we don't and I wouldn't dare participate in an FNR until I get another car...how late can we enter the WAFNR ?
Before end August if you want the Regalia package - if you are not bothered about that - End Sept, subject to hotel space availability. PS: Don't forget the vino!
don't you tightwads in the west make a few extra for the latecomers, I know I had the chance to be the first attendee but with no car I'd hate to embarrass you by whoopin that OHOS 308 with a crappy BMW I'll forfeit the race for this year and send you the vino
Hi here is the copy of the Ferrari club australia joining page. It states an Associate member shall be a person who does not qualify as a full member or family member but who is able to demonstrate a substantial & abiding interst in Ferrari & who is willing to be actively involved in all activities of the FCA. Approval & continuation of membership will be soley at the discretion of the national commitee. andrew
