I'm thinking of upgrading the wheels on my GT4 and I'm torn three ways, between the Original Cromodora 14s, the 308 16s (5 star), or a set of Cromodora style in 16s (see below from superformance.uk). Any one got pictures of a GT4 with the Cromodora style 16s?

Search the archives...there is a pic of a 246 Dino with those 16" wheels on it. Looks BAD *ssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure the GT4 would as well. Had I known about them, I may have gone that route. :)

They certainly look good in isolation.

Somehow though, those pretty wheels are very 1960's and, a bit like over large Minilites, they lose their charm when out of period size IMO.

    David,

The 14 inch version of those wheels are stock on my 74 GT4 and IMHO look very classy and 70s (on the euro's at least). My understanding is that going from 14 to 16 is a huge HUGE handling improvement, and regarding the 5 spoke it's also a huge visual improvement. The only question left in my mind is how will the Cromodora's look in 16s; i.e. is the improvement in look as great as the 16 inch 5-spoke was compared to the 14 inch!

    Red,

Very nice pictures, they just don't quite show the overall look, do you happen to have a side picture of that red GT4?

Those look nice, but IMHO, I really prefer the 328 wheels on the GT4. The 328 wheels work really nicely with the angular lines of the car.

I do think those Cromodora's would look great on a Dino 246, however.

Dom, I agree completely that the 328 wheel looks great in the GT4, Hans' is a perfect example! But I also think the the series 1 GT4 looks great with the 14" Cromodora's, where dstacy' is another perfect example.

The question is, and maybe photoshop is the way, how do the 16" Cromodora's look on the GT4?!

The car looks remarkable either way you go. Thats what makes it so tough to choose. IMHO You just gotta, "punt" on this one and move on, because you cant go wrong.

    Lets see...

It will be like adding extra RAM to your computer..you'll notice something special at first that you can attribute to the upgrade but the sensation will become absorbed into the canvas before long and all that will remain is a contemporary rendering of the composite object.

Great photo work, very effective. nice ladies too!

Here is a pic of mine with 328 wheels....and its lowered.

I can tell you that the wheels made a HUGE improvement in the handling of the car. The suspension re-do took that to a whole 'nuther level!!!!
    This car handles truly like a go-kart . :)

Unfortunately not but I am going on a club run on Sunday morning so if the car is there, I'll take more pics.

Jim she looks so good! Are 328 wheels readily available? Did the 328 owners "upgrade" there wheels to something else, leaving a pile of them around in some dusty corner waiting to be picked up for the price of a coffee?!

    Darryl,

You are probably right. Maybe price and availability becomes the deciding factor, they usually are any ways!

I like the 16" star patern wheels the best. Both the QV and 328 version look great, but I would lean 328 as well.

My paint guys lost my wheels, so new ones were ordered from Superformance. I've thought long and hard about this, but I ended up deciding for 5-star wheels again.

But either way will look good, I think. And you'll like the handling improvements of the 16 inches...

Looking at the all the photos posted, and others throughout f-chat has left me with the impression that you can't go wrong with any of the 3 suggestions in 16" size; Dino like, 308 QV, and 328.

The Dino type is closest to original but not as quite eye popping as the other two.
The 328's are *****'n but look a little too ... modern. My car is a '74 after all.
And the 308 QVs are half way between the other two, original and eye popping. To me these would be a great compromise (without really being one)!!
