Old thread, but my earliest memories are from the passenger seat of this car. She wasn't all prettied up then...............back before they were worth all the money..........man she was LOUD.......
Dad owned 2455, he bought her in 1965 and sold it in 1980 (if only he had held on for a few more years!!!!). When he finally sold it, he was in the process of doing a restore in a friends garage, so she was in boxes all over the house and stripped down to bare aluminum. She was a competition car, MAY have been a sefac hotrod, or a prototype for one. She was stripped down to the bare essentials, there was nothing refined or nice about her. She was so cammed up, she didn't really idle. The interior was almost non existant, and dad had taken the windows out. They didn't roll up, and they didn't really open, so it was just too hot with them in. Some dynamat would really have helped I think the earliest memory I have is being broken down in the rain on the side of the road. We used to go up to PBIR for track days. I never made Daytona with her, but I did make Sebring. I also sort of remember the race with Shelby GT350, we were dead even............until he had to shift. The SWB had another 2k RPM to go. Dad would regularly wind her out to 8k. A vintage racer who has one told me they are good to 10k RPM. Sounded sweet

Yep. Bill. If you ever want to talk to him about the car, PM me with your contact information. You may never get him off the phone He always told me he bought her from Bob Grossman, I'll bet Lang is a misspelling or some other paperwork error. It was silver when he got it, he didn't repaint it. I guess he sold it in 79, but the deal with Bob Cressman was sort of a trade involving an 80 308GTSi, so I thought it was in early 80....
Here are some Pics of the car, and a couple of others http://s198.photobucket.com/albums/aa230/wolfling68/250%20SWB/ Enjoy
If you don't want to go to the link PBIR and Sebring pics. I love the fact they staged them on rocks, grass, and dirt....... Sebring was the first year IMSA ran Sebring, the PBIR (Palm Beach International Raceway, before it became Moroso) is a vintage race (fun race, not serious, so no door banging) around 1978.
