If you don't like that one you wont like the others.

    Stay in Modena.

Opera 02 was wonderful when we stayed in September, 10 minutes from the factory. Best meals we had in Emilia Romagna.

Planet is the worst. No idea why you went there. You must have received really bad advice from somebody.
Exactly across the factory (where the modern main and big entrance is, near the windtunnel and across the huge roundabout), other side, is the really very good Hotel Maranello Palace. I have stayed there dozens of nights. Most visitors to the factory stay there. Excellent underground car park. Book always a Junior Suite (I think they have 8 of these), very big rooms, all good. Not expensive, just about Euro € 160/night. And it is less than 3 (three!) minutes from the factory.
You can also stay at Hotel UNA in Baggiovara (halfway between Maranello and Modena, very easy to reach from the Tangenziale).

I stayed at the Hotel Villa Maranello for 3 days in November, it was great and I highy recommend it. Owner's first name is Enzo, so I felt right at home :)
A small Hotel that was recently fully refurbished, located on the Via Nazionale, about 5 minutes walk from the Factory. Rooms are spotlessly clean and the owner (Enzo) is a really friendly guy and a great chef - the restaurant is one of the best in the region.
    Free (outdoor) parking & wifi.

Maranello Palace was a nice place to stay in. Walking distance to the factory.

When I go to the factory, I stay in Bologna at Grand Hotel Majestic. It is in the heart of Bologna and lots to do at night. It is roughly 50 kilometers from Maranello.
