So today, I wake up and the house is around 55 degrees... I figure out that the furnace ain't coming on - at all. Being slightly above Oaf on the intelligence scale, I figured out that the problem was there was no 110V getting to the unit... tracing back, I find a red box on the ceiling labeled "Thermal Cutoff Switch". It's made by Omco and is a model TC2. Well, I have 110V going into the switch, but nothing coming out... so... it's the switch. I bypass it and the heating is working again. Of course, I need to replace this safety switch... but I can't find ANYTHING on Google for "Omco TC2". And for that matter, whenever I search for thermal cutoff switches, I get all sorts of results for dryers, stovetop ranges, and everything else under the sun, but I can't find anything like what I am looking for. I am guessing Omco is no longer around... but is there an equivalent part? It's just a 1A capacity thermal cutoff switch. It's not an emergency but I want to replace it just to be safe. Thanks
This may be REALLY off the wall, but the guy that I call when my old Coleman house heater goes on the blink (About twice a year with stupid little adjustment type things) is my spa repair guy! For what it's worth, you may give that a shot.

I had a similar problem with one of my furnaces at work. The heat exchanger was cracked, and the result was heat buildup, triggering the safety switch. Make sure it's actually the switch and not something internal. Mine was under warranty, just a PITA to replace.
