Any info on a 25 year old GTO mystery?

Hi everybody,new guy with a 25 year mystery that needs some answers and not sure where to ask so I’ll ask it here. In the mid 90s in Newark Ca I saw a late 50s GTO and have always been curious about the history of the car. The car in question was a bit on the wornout side,painted an awful gold that looked like it was applied with a house roller. Now I know there were GTO kit cars at the time but this was no kit car,the sound the car made was unmistakable. I knew at the time exactly what it was but didn’t know how rare the car was. With the rarity of the car somebody out there has got to know the story on it,for just about 25 years this mystery has been driving me crazy and would just like to know the story on the car,who’s the most knowledgeable source on late 50s-early 60s GTOs. How about it,any info on this at this point,unicorn?
